"Dad, Kate, you're home early," Alexis said surprised as she saw her father and his girlfriend walk through the apartment door in the middle of the afternoon. "Is everything alright?"

"Oh yeah," Rick smiled as Kate limped to the couch before dropping herself on it. Alexis watched her actions before looking at her father with a confused expression. "Everything's great."

"Speak for yourself," Kate yelled from her position on the couch.

"You'll have to forgive her. She isn't used to vacation life yet," Rick chuckled.

Alexis moved over to the couch and sat on the coffee table in front of Kate. "What happened?"

Kate let out a sigh and opened her eyes. "I was chasing our suspect and twisted my ankle. I'll be fine but everyone thinks I need to take a vacation."

"Honey, you sprained your ankle and the doctors think there might even be a fracture in there," Rick chastised her once more before turning his attention to Alexis. "She has to stay off it for at least 24 hours before we get it checked out again. Then it could be anywhere from a few weeks to months before it's healed again."

At this Kate let out a loud displeased moan. "That'll take forever!"

"I'm bored. I want ice cream," Kate Beckett declared from the couch she sat on while her leg remained propped up on pillows on the coffee table in front of her.

"You're watching TV. How can you be bored?" Rick chuckled from his office. He could see the lovely detective through the doorway.

"I want to watch a game."

"What kind of game?" Rick asked closing his laptop.

"I don't know. It's sports," Kate shrugged. "There has to be some kind of game on. And I want ice cream."

"You already said you wanted ice cream." Rick couldn't hold back his laughter any longer.

"Do you have any?" Kate asked turning her attention to the writer who was walking over to her.

"Yes we have two kinds but you can't have any," Rick stated sitting next to her foot on the coffee table. After seeing her confused face he quickly continued. "You're just eating because you're bored. You told me you were going to wind up doing that and that I'm not to allow you to binge eat under any circumstances."

Kate huffed a sigh of displeasure as she crossed her arm. "I'm not a child you know. It won't ruin my appetite."

"I know," Rick chuckled. "But you made me promise you."

"What about a small bowl? We could eat it together," Kate proposed uncrossing her arms. A twinkle dancing in her green eyes.

"I don't know," Rick looked away as he contemplated his options.

"Please?" Kate asked sweetly as she leaned forward. "We could have other fun with the toppings as well," She smiled wickedly.

Rick's head snapped up. "Really?"

"Mhm," Kate nodded as she leaned back into the sofa. "Just hurry up and get some."
