Hong Kong sighed and leaned against the window sill, watching the rain pour down. Suddenly, a huge clap of thunder sounded and not long after, lightning lit up the stormy sky. He flinched violently then mentally berated himself for still holding on the childish fear of thunder storms.
A pair of arms wrapped around his waist, causing him to jump again. It turns out to be Taiwan who smiled happily at him.
"What's wrong?" she asked. She had been watching Hong Kong watch the storm and get increasingly upset.
"Nothing." Hong Kong tried to ignore the way Taiwan's arms around him.
"U-huh. Then why are you getting all jumpy watching the storm?" Taiwan asked, teasing. She rested her chin on Hong Kong's shoulder, arms still locked tightly around his waist.
"I'm not!" Hong Kong protested. He never could lie to anyone, especially Taiwan who knew him better than he knew himself.
"Hong Kong, you know you can't lie to anyone, much less me. Now tell me what's wrong?" Taiwan said.
"I just don't like storms. Never have." Hong Kong leaned back slightly into Taiwan's chest to see what the Taiwanese would do.
She released her hold on Hong Kong, only to spin him around and grab his wrist.
"Well, I'll just have to help you face your fears, huh?" Taiwan started to drag Hong Kong to the door.
"Taiwan, it's okay. I'm fine with my fears. I've made good friends with it. You don't have to do this." Hong Kong said, trying to pull away but Taiwan merely pulled harder.
Hong Kong sighed again and let himself be pulled out into the rain. He flinched when the icy drops drops hit his skin.
Taiwan released the Chinese Hong Kong's arm and twirled around in the rain.
"See? It's not so bad, Hong Kong." she laughed. To tell you the truth, Taiwan loves the rain.
"Maybe not for you." Hong Kong snapped. He was soaking wet along with Taiwan but she didn't seem to care.
"To truly appreciate the rain, one must dance in it." Taiwan said, grabbing Hong Kong's hands and catched him off guard, spun him around.
Hong Kong nearly slipped in a puddle but Taiwan caught him, pulling him closer to her body. The Chinese Hong Kong blushed as he felt Taiwan's arms wrapped around his neck. Then afterwards, the Taiwanese pressed her lips against his.
This made Hong Kong feel surprised but gives in by kissing her back. After that, they both parted.
"You okay?" she asked, softly.
Hong Kong looked thoughtful then said, "Yeah." They leaned in for another kiss.
When they pulled away again, Hong Kong mused, "You know, I don't really mind the rain so much anymore."
Taiwan giggled and tugged him in the Chinese house. "Let's go change into something dry though. You're freezing."
Hong Kong smiled and nodded. The rain had softened to a barely drizzle. Everything was okay again which makes Hong Kong didn't mind the rain.
