DM Flying High
Margo had just recovered from a broken arm, and now it was better. Two days later after she and her sisters had broken up from school for the summer, Gru and Lucy had something to tell them. ''We're flying to Torquay in Australia'' Lucy said, ''that's where I nearly flew to until I decided I'd escape to get back to Gru''.
''When do we go?'' Margo asked. ''In two weeks' time'' Gru replied. ''Awesome!'' Edith cheered ''But is this on a plane''. Gru winked. ''Of course on a plane Edith, there's no other way to fly abroad''. Two weeks later the great day came at long last. Edith was so excited she was the first one up.
She'd made sure she had everything she needed for the long flight. Her ninja comics, her colouring book, and some different flavour cookies. Gru parked his Grumobile in the airport carpark. Together they heaved the heavy suitcases into the airport.
After going through a long queue of people. The minions checked in all the luggage at the passport control. As they walked past a lot of shops and cafes, Edith sighed loudly, were they ever going to get on? ''The plane's not going just yet sweetie'' Lucy said, ''we have to go through the security check and all that''.
Edith couldn't believe they made you take your shoes off when you went through security. Finally they made their way through a long tunnel and onto the plane which to Edith looked larger than her father's vehicle. ''I'll sit with Edith'' Gru declared, when Lucy had asked him who was sitting where.
He felt that since he had known Edith a lot longer than Lucy, he could keep an eye on her more easily. Edith bagged the seat nearest the window. Gru and Dave sat with her, while Lucy, Margo and Agnes sat in the seats behind. Gru glanced around the plane. Lucy, himself, the girls and the minions as well nearly filled up the plane.
Edith nibbled on a Coconuttie and stared as the engine of the plane began to rumble. This was it! From the window seat behind Edith, Margo watch as the plane began to pick up speed. ''We're flying!'' she exclaimed as the plane grew higher and higher. Edith glanced out of her window. Everything looked as tiny as toys!
Gru set up his laptop. Edith stared at the big blue ocean far below. She wondered if they were almost in outer space. They'd been flying for a very long time now, and she felt thirsty. Edith nudged Gru. ''What's de matter Edith?'' he asked, removing his headphones. ''I'm thirsty'' Edith said. ''can I have a drink?''.
Luckily a flight attendant came past pushing a trolley full of things to eat and drink. Gru paid for a juice box for Edith and a coffee for himself. Edith sipped her juice, got out a Choco Swirlie and continued to read her comics. But her legs were starting to feel stiff and her bottom felt like it was superglued to the seat.
She clutched between her legs suddenly and poked Gru again. ''What now?'' Gru sighed, removing his headphones. ''I need the toilet'' Edith said. ''It's at de back'' Gru said pointing. Edith made her way along the plane towards the toilet. But it was occupied. Edith crossed her legs impatiently. She really needed to tinkle.
At last the toilet was free and afterwards as Edith began to make her way back to her seat. There was a voice on the intercom. ''Everyone return to their seats, we are coming in to land''. As Edith sat down she couldn't believe that it was time to land already. Edith noticed some buttons on her seat.
She wondered what they were for. She pressed one and suddenly her seat flipped backwards. ''Oww!'' Margo shouted from the seat behind, ''be careful Edith!''. Gru just rolled his eyes. Edith hoped she wasn't in trouble. They stepped off the plane at Torquay Airport, and the minions picked up the luggage.
The next day, after a good night's sleep. The family decided to go exploring. ''This'' Edith thought ''is going to be the best holiday so far''.
The End
