A/N: Movie Plot Prompt Competition from JadedEpiphany!

I chose #33, and the movie the prompt is from is The Notebook.

As such, the prompt is a Next-Gen character has an enchanted notebook and everything they write in it becomes reality.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter!

James stared at the small package in front of him. Who on Earth would send him a book? Well, it was shaped like one! It was probably boring too, which made him all the more irritated. Shifting his hazel eyes upwards, he met the rather curious gaze of his father.

"Who's the present, from then?" The green-eyed man gave him a teasing smile. "A secret admirer?" The elder Potter turned back to Hermione, resuming their discussion on the Auror Division.

It was true, he had opened all of the other birthday presents, and those were from everyone he knew. Cocking his head slightly, he pursed his lips and tapped the top of the package idly.

Huh. Well, he might as well open it. But it better not be a book!

Tearing off the newspaper wrapping, he felt his features blank at the handsome leather book in front of him. A book? He knew it! He wouldn't read a page of it! Scowling mildly, James randomly flipped over to a page in it.

Annnd.. it was blank.

What?

Curiosity now rising in him, James flipped through the other pages. They were blank as well. A journal?

"Hey, Dad!" he heard the familiar shout of his brother Albus, but James hardly paid attention to his younger sibling. "It looks like Jamesie got a diary!" James risked a glare at his younger brother, a scowl tugging on the corners of his lips.

"It's not a diary!" James retorted angrily, still running a finger on the cool brown leather. "It's a journal!"

"No it's nooot!" Lily's voice chimed in from behind him. "A diary!"

"A journal!"

"Diary!"

"Journal!"

"Stop fighting, you two." James's Mother sharply snapped out, her distinctive red hair flipping around from his right.

"Bah." James muttered to himself, trying to reign in his curiosity. This was his twelfth birthday party, and he needed to mingle.

That night James sat perched on the end of his bed, journal in hand. Sucking on one of his quills, he studied the book with an intrigued look in his eyes. What would he right about?

Dipping the light brown tip into the ink, James turned to the journal and began to scribble down on the first page.

Dear Journal,

My name is James Sirius Potter, and I'm going into my second year at Hogwarts. I am twelve years old as of this day in the year 2004, and I think things will get interesting this year.

I have two younger siblings, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna.

I'm certainly curious though. Who would name their kid Albus Severus? It's a weird name. I mean, Albus should change it! Maybe to Alan Shaun, or something? That's a good name, there!

He's also going into his first year at Hogwarts starting September first. Personally, I think he'll go into Gryffindor! I mean, Dad says Albus is the sneakiest snake he'd ever met! Maybe that's why his middle name is Severus.

Anyways, it's bed-time now. We leave for the train at 10:00 tomorrow morning so we can get a good seat before it leaves at 11. Maybe I'll meet someone new? When I do, we'll be the best of friends! And no-one else will convince me otherwise.

Yours,

James Sirius Potter

With that, James dipped his quill into a small tube of water and hung it on his quill rack to dry.
