"Varian!" screamed Jaina as she helplessly reached out towards Varian with tears streaming down her face. She could barely make out his figure from that distance before a green light radiated. When the light faded, he was gone.
Jaina clenched her fist. "Damnit! Damn the Horde and damn the legion!" she shouted as she was sobbing. Seeking some source of comfort, she walked over to Genn and stood by him. "I'm proud of my king."
"Jaina." Genn clutched a scroll close to him. "I need you to do me a favor."
Jaina's eyes widened. "What do you ask of me, Lord Greymane?"
"It will be a while before we make it back to Stormwind. I need you to go ahead and teleport there and tell the news to Pri… King Anduin."
Jaina's eyes widened. "You want me to be the one to tell him the news?"
"Are you not like an aunt to him?"
"Very well. I will go to him." Jaina teleported away from the gunship, still sniffling heavily.
Jaina teleported inside of the Stormwind Keep and immediately to one knee, still sobbing and exhausted.
"Aunt Jaina!" Anduin exclaimed as he came running to Jaina. "I'm really glad to see that you're okay. Do you have any news from the Broken Shore?"
"We lost the battle. The Horde was supposed to support us but retreated. We had to retreat but lost most of our heroes, including your father. I'm so sorry Anduin."
"F-father…" Tears immediately began to well up in Anduin's eyes.
"Your father was a great hero until the very end. A Fel Reaver held down the gunship and was going to pull us all down until he jumped down to defeat it. Your father heroically sacrificed his life for us all, my lord."
A few tears began to stream down Anduin's face. "Please don't call me that. I'm not ready to be king. These are some of the darkest hours Azeroth has ever seen and I don't know what to without my father."
"That's not true!" Jaina argued as she stood up and walked over to the young blonde. "You don't have to face this alone. I am here to help you and the rest of the Alliance will be here for you too. And even in this darkest hour, there is still a small glimmer of light that will shine true and save all of Azeroth. You are that light."
The king to be crowned was now bawling. "I just can't live without my father! I wasn't ready for him to leave me yet!"
The archmage embraced the new king. "I miss him too. We all do. All of the Alliance will be sad to say goodbye to your father and look to you for hope and certainty. But you aren't alone. I'm here for you."
Anduin did not say anything else. He folded his arms around his Aunt Jaina and continued to weep for the fallen lion.
