Walking Away

House was standing in the open, in front of the doors to the outside world. It meant that he was in the patient's room, his normal place, and that the outside world was everything out of this room. No, House never liked to go outside. For it was too mean outside, people liked to be mean with everyone and bitch about everything. Some maybe would say that he wasn't better than any of them ... perhaps true. But what they ignore is that he knew all that ... and that is why he did it now. He wasn't a fool. Oh, that's for sure ! House was everything but a fool ... he was mean, cruel sometimes, sarcastic and many other things of that order but, he was not a fool . People sometimes thought because of his acts that he was in fact, a complete idiot which was untrue from every side. It's just because ... he was this way. He might piss other people off but still .. he was nice in his own way. Maybe because people didn't care enough about anyone else but themselves to take a look closer at him and what had been done to him for he had turned out this way. No, they did not really want to understand ... they might say they care but that's just a surface. To House anyway. No, they would never care ...

The patient in the room moved loudly, waking House from his thoughts. The man in the hospital bed asked him, in a kind of concerned tone : - Everyday, since I've been here, I see you struggling with yourself till you finally decide to take a step ... Why do you seem to loathe going outside this door ?

House looked at him for two seconds, opened the door and told him while stepping out of the room with his cane in hand : - Because it hurts too much.
