Youth is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect
The breaking down of love is much less dramatic than he'd come to believe. The movies, the books, the love poems; they'd all sold him on the idea of heartbreak so wrenching it doomed your existence, of passionate declarations just a breath too late.
The actual experience is far less exciting.
It comes in glances that linger, their meaning ignored and denied. In forming an unbreakable bond that you poke and prod until it's raw and exposed and left with nothing but its everlasting essence. In a collection of missed opportunities, of words resting right on the tongue but never spoken. In a wedding announcement that defeats rather than inspires and then promises and declarations that are hollow on his tongue.
The break down of love is not a single fiery moment but a collection of many that never ignite.
uhggggg one year later and i'm still just as pissed. Srsly how can you write these two dork ending up with other people WHEN THEY ARE CLEARLY SOUL MATES? HOW?
…I'm clearly doing big time consuming things post grad.
