A/N: Hello, everyone, and welcome to my first poem on this site. The story of this lovely thing's origin is actually quite interesting: this is actually a revised version of a poem I wrote years ago; it actually rhymed then. I wanted to put the original one up as a ballad for the Kuronue and Kurama pairing, but I couldn't remember the original work nor did I write it down, so I pretty much had to start from scratch after the first line. Therefore, I forged this baby and it turned out better than I expected and probably suited the story better than before.
Well, anyways, this is basically the story of Kuronue and Kurama, told from Kurama's point of view. In my version, the two of them are not only partners in thievery, but also best friends and lovers. This is their story.
Why did you leave?
My love for you,
Has always been so strong.
Yet the pain inside,
Was never so great as now.
'We'll always be together.'
That's what you told me.
And I believed you,
Like that naïve boy I was.
We were so happy together,
It was like a dream come true.
Then came that fateful day,
And I think you knew it, too.
You took me in your arms,
And whispered lovingly in my ear,
'Promise me, my sweet love,
You'll live if I move on.'
I laughed and pushed you playfully,
Dismissing your prophetic and solemn words.
Now I so wish to go back,
To hear your gentle voice.
Telling me you loved me.
Telling me you would be there.
But you're gone forever;
Death has made sure of that.
I remain all alone now,
Though there are beings around me.
No one can understand my sorrow.
No one knows me truly, like you did.
Why did you leave?
You have broken my heart, and your promise.
Thank you for your time, and please review!
