Disclaimers: CBS/Paramount own them. :P
AN: This is a POV but I won't reveal who's it is until the end.
Surround by all of them, voices rising as we joked and laughed each other antics, my breath catches as you stroll through the doors of Sandrine's with her arms wrapped around your muscular arm. The dim lights caught and flashed golden as they struck the bands of gold that you both wore, you're entwined hands another sign of your devotion to each other.
My hand clenches tightly around the cue and I take a quick breath to ease the light-headedness that has come over me when your eyes swept over me.
I turned away from you even as I laughed a little louder to draw your attention to where I stood but it was a wasted effort. You were fascinated by the woman in your arms. You walked by me with a nod and a soft greeting, your breath rustling her soft strands and in the brief moment, I hate her. She's where I ache to be but I was too scared to speak to you of my feelings and I lost my chance with you. Her allure had wrapped around you until you became blinded to my love, a love that I've hidden since the start of our journey.
I'm left alone in the wake of your gentle dismissal, my heart aching at the loss.
My eyes follow your progress across the room, your hand rests upon her lower back, guiding her steps until you sit at a dimly lit table away from the prying eyes of this crew.
The bitter taste of jealousy fills me and I grimace as she traces the fine lines etched on your brow, an intimate caress in the midst of everyone.
I look away, trying to conceal the pain that I feel as I watch you with her at your side, meeting the compassionate brown eyes. He calls out my name, understanding in his voice.
"I'm alright," I murmured, flashing a sardonic smile at him, silently asking him to let it go. "One more round, Harry?"
Harry nods and begins to set up for the next round. My gaze is drawn back to you, regret flowing over me as I see your smile down at her and reach down to press tender kisses upon her lips.
My lids closed, "At least, this is one game I won't lose," I whispered softly, with those words, I looked once more at you in the arms of Kathryn Janeway and walked away.
Realizing that I would always be invisible in your eyes.
The End
The POV is from Tom.
I'm blaming so of the wonderful C/P fics I've come across via Shayenne, Char, Cassett to name just a few, for the creation of this story. This will be my only story and I'll make my way back into writing J/C.
