My fic friend Hannah-Nobody (who is amazing, btw, look her up on this site) sent me the following prompt and I couldn't help but respond with a tiny Lugratsu drabble 3
In your OT3
- Who doesn't know that aluminum foil shouldn't go in the microwave.
- Who's the little shit that doesn't say anything cause they think it can't go that badly
- And who comes home to a crispy microwave and the other two rubbing burn cream on each other
"Natsu, what the hell are you doing?"
Natsu blinked at Gray who was leaning on the kitchen door frame.
"I'm making a baked potato, Icicle, what does it look like?"
Gray bit his bottom lip in an attempt to hold back the laugh that was bubbling in his chest. Natsu was indeed, trying to make a baked potato. He had wrapped the thing in aluminium foil with butter and herbs and various other things. It actually looked delicious, but that wasn't the issue.
"Why are you putting it in the microwave?"
Natsu turned his back on Gray to continue what he was doing.
"Because the oven is way too slow and I'm hungry now. Duh."
Now, Gray knew what every primary school kid had been told. Don't put metal in the microwave. Including aluminium foil. But it seemed that somehow, Natsu had skipped learning that vital piece of information. Not that Gray was surprised. The ADHD child had definitely struggled at school.
He opened his mouth to inform Natsu what a terrible idea it was, but then quickly shut it again. He had never actually seen metal in a microwave. How bad could it be, right? Plus, this would be pay back to Natsu for ignoring Gray in the bedroom last night. Yes, he was petty; so sue him.
So, he sat on the kitchen table and watched as Natsu started the machine and watched his spinning food intensely.
Lucy was feeling an odd mixture of fury and worry. She had smelt smoke the second she entered the building and had rushed towards her flat. She had no doubt of exactly which duo was responsible. Although fire was Natsu's domain, Gray was guaranteed to have played a role. If her flat was burnt down, she was going to skin them both alive.
She flung the door open and stopped short to stare at the scene in front of her.
The walls and roof of her kitchen were blackened and she could clearly see the microwave - or rather, it's fried remains - on the floor.
Natsu was sitting on the floor in the lounge room, whimpering and pouting as Gray rubbed cream onto his burnt skin. They were both topless and Gray had clearly ignored his own injuries in favour of soothing Natsu.
Lucy sighed. Of course. Why was she even surprised when she came home to this sort of thing? She dropped her bag and hurried over to the pair. Despite her annoyance, she still couldn't bare to see them both in pain and would help in any way she could.
"What even happened here, guys?"
Natsu winced as Gray touched a particularly bad scorch mark.
"Ice Idiot didn't tell me that aluminium foil wasn't supposed to go in the microwave. He just sat and watched me do it."
The look Lucy shot Gray was enough to shoot fear into even the toughest man's heart. Gray was going to regret this practical joke for weeks, and now the burns were the least of his worries.
