AN: So I'm really proud of this... Don't ask me why. And even though this technically belongs to the Digimon fandom, (since I wrote this with Kari in mind) it can belong to anything really...
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon. If I did, 02 would have ended so differently.
The City of Colour
She lived in the city of colour. There was no way anyone could deny that it was the city of colour. Every street, every corner, everywhere in city there was just this, energy. This energy that could just make you smile no matter what you were feeling. This energy that just made your problems disappear. It was truly difficult to stay sad in the City of Colour.
The people who lived in the city were wonderful as well. Everywhere she went, people would always greet her, stop to say hello, etc. It was a small city though. To be more accurate, the population would make it something more like a small town, but with the energy coursing through it, people just considered it like a city.
She was fairly well known in the city. The beautiful brunette girl who was kind to everyone. The one who no one could hate even if they tried. They all saw her as perfect, she could do no wrong. Only she knew the truth.
They didn't know about the darkness. How the darkness haunted her. How every night, right before she would go to sleep, a huge impenetrable wall of despair would crash over her. Every single happy though she had, would be forgotten. No mattered how hard she tried to pull herself out of the darkness, she'd just get dragged back in, further and further. She was drowning in negativity.
She tried to protect herself. She noticed the darkness wasn't as strong when her friends were around. So she tried to stay with her friends. Meet up with them as much as possible. As long as she wasn't left alone, she wouldn't feel the despair.
It was getting tiresome though. As much as she loved her friends, she did like her time alone. But she was scared now. She couldn't be left alone. But her friends were getting tired as well. They didn't understand why she suddenly insisted on them hanging out all the time. They had agreed willingly though, because it was always fun. But they too, were missing their alone time.
Soon she began to sense it. She mistook their hesitance as a sign that the no longer cared. Not wanting to be a burden for them, she stopped requesting to hang out. That just made the darkness stronger. Now, even if she was with people, she could hear the darkness calling her. "You're selfish," they'd call out. "Look at how much time of theirs you've wasted. They're glad you're gone. They're glad you finally left them alone."
So she the only thing that made sense. She let the darkness consume her. She vanished without a trace. No matter how long, or far her friends looked for her, nobody was able to find her.
What she didn't realize was that, when she vanished, the City of Colour, had lost part of its shine.
AN: Leave me a review pretty please? I really want to know what you thought of this. :D
