If One More Person Leaves…

Summary: Cleo and Rikki have a talk after Lewis leaves in season three.

After watching Lewis' boat leave, Cleo couldn't hold together anymore. She rushed home and locked herself away in her bedroom. First Emma left, then Lewis. Who was next? She barely been there for a few minutes before there was a knock on the door.

"Go away," Cleo said loudly. All she wanted was to be alone.

"Just unlock the door, Cleo, before I pick the lock," Rikki's voice said on the other side on the door.

Cleo slowly got off her bed and opened the door, reveling Rikki. Cleo stepped aside so Rikki could walk in.

"You okay? It's not like you to isolate yourself from others. That's more of my thing," Rikki said, walking over to the bed and sitting on the edge.

"Yeah, well, I really wanted to be alone," she said, sitting down next to Rikki.

"I don't think so, Cleo."

"What are you talking about? I think I know what I want."

"If you really wanted to be alone, you wouldn't have let me in the room. Wanna talk?"

"Wow, you offering to talk. You must be pretty worried about me."

"You're my best friend. Of course I'm worried and besides Bella there's no one you'd really talk to.

"I wouldn't talk to Bella about this."

"Talk to me, then."

"First Em, then Lewis," was all Cleo said. That was the only thing she had to say because Rikki imminently knew what she was talking about.

"I know it's crazy. When we first became mermaids it was like we would never leave each others' side. Now it's only you and me. Not even our geek is here."

"Rikki!"

"Too soon?"

"A little bit."

"Sorry, but look Emma and Lewis are going to come back eventually. We've also got Bella and Will."

"Yeah, I know, but I swear if one more person leaves, I'm gonna scream."

"I know the feeling."

"You won't leave right?"

"I have no idea where I would be going. I'm staying right here with you."

"Thanks. I miss Emma like crazy. It's weird to be going through all this craziness without her taking charge."

"Would it make you feel better if we called her?"

"Maybe."

"Then let's try it," Rikki said, standing up and grabbing Cleo's hand and pulling her to her feet.

"You're one of the best friends ever, Rikki."

"I know, right?"

"Way to be modest."

"You're pretty awesome yourself, now let's go call Em."

"Together?"

"Always, Cleo, always."
