Saying Goodbye was one thing Lucy hated most. She loved Tumnus with all her heart. She still remembers the last time she saw him and it was for a goodbye. The White stag had been spotted in the Western Woods. Everyone was running around like a crazy person trying to get ready to leave by dawn. Lucy only wanted to catch the stag so she could be able to marry her beloved Tumnus. He didn't know how she felt and her family would never let them be together if they knew. They would say they were just too different and they wanted much better for her. So she would smile and pretend it was all good and shed run to her room and cry her heart out. She longed to hold Tumnus and maybe even kiss him.
This goodbye was the hard and here why..
Everyone was hugging and preparing to leave in a matter of moments. Lucy was so much in love with Tumnus that ever having to part with him physically hurt her. She had said her goodbyes to everyone else, she was going to just wave bye to Tumnus but he insisted on a formal goodbye. He pulled her in her favorite bear hug. 'Goodbye for now my Lucy.' "Goodbye Tumnus." Lucy had slowly started to shed tears and Tumnus had just realized this. 'Now Lucy whatever is the matter?' "You know I do not like goodbyes Tumnus." He held her for a few moments more Lucy could tell he was thinking about something very hard. "Tumnus what are you think about?" 'I was thinking about how to make this your most favorite goodbye. I think I might have thought of a way.' He had on his smile that sometimes made Lucy wonder if Tumnus wasn't a little on the insane side. He lifted Lucy chin and ever so slightly kissed Lucy. Lucy wrapped her arms around Tumnus neck to deepen the kiss. Both of them realizing this changes everything had started to cry harder. This, when The Kings and Queens got back, would be very very difficult. Tumnus pulled away and wiped Lucy tears. 'Goodbye Lucy. I will always Love you' "Goodbye my Tumnus and I will always love you." Then a smiling, happy Lucy climbed on her horse with a wave trotted away from the one person who she loved like no other.
When she fell on the ground as a little girl Lucy wasted not a second trying to get back to Narnia. She kicked, screamed, and sobbed until Peter picked her up and took her to her bedroom. Meanwhile Tumnus just heard the news the kings and queens were missing. He traveled back to his cave sick on his stomach worrying about his Lucy.
When Lucy returned to Narnia to find out her Tumnus was dead. Lucy was in so much pain and agony she refused to leave the castle ruins. But she thought of Aslan and prayed she be able to keep living even though not a bone in her body wanted too.
