Yo! This is my first fanfic so its probably really bad but whatever~
By the way, I do not own One Piece as I do not have such talent.
A lone 8-year-old was walking the dark streets of the town with the name of Grand Line. His raven hair was blowing in the wind along with the straw hat that rested on his back, a piece of rope around his neck keeping it from taking to the sky. He was hoping to make it to his house without having any trouble occur, for his grandpa would probably punish him for being even more late then he already was.
No such luck, though.
"Let her go!" A shout came from around a corner, startling the small ravenette. His curiosity took over without a moment's hesitation, and he quickly peeked his head around the corner. There was a green-headed kid surrounded by a group of kids older then him by a few years. One of the kids was holding a little girl, about one or two years old, by her neck, and she was struggling to get out of the kid's grasp.
"Why would we, vampire?" one of the kids replied to the previous statement. The straw hat kid inferred that the green haired kid had yelled at them before, since he grinded his teeth together and growled. "She has too much of your scent on her. She will die, then you will too. For all we know, she could be a vampire as well-"
"SHUT UP!" the smaller kid yelled, opening his mouth enough so that the eight-year-old could see the sharp points of growing fangs. They must be vampire hunters…he thought. "She's not a vampire! She is a regular girl! Let Rika go!" the vampire kid yelled, eyes glazed with unshed tears. One kid saw this, and sent a nod to the guy holding the girl, Rika, who got the message and started to slowly squeeze her neck tighter. He must be the leader, straw hat thought, glaring. "Zo…ro…" Rika said in between gasps for air. The vampire's, Zoro's, eyes widened and Rika fell limp, she was unconscious. "Rika…" Zoro muttered, and the older kids snickered. Rika was thrown to the ground in front of Zoro, and as she was, the ravenette saw three sheaths for katana lying on the ground behind the leader.
"RIKA!" Zoro screamed, and it was filled with so much sadness and desperation, straw hat was about to interfere and help the young vampire. Yet he didn't. He saw the anger boil up in Zoro's eyes, and he could tell the beast was about to come out. "Why? Why would you do that to her? She's not a vampire." Zoro said, surprisingly calm. The leader cackled-it was a sickening sound. "All our families were killed by vampires. So we swore to kill all vampires and anyone who associates with vampires." Hearing this, Zoro chuckled darkly, filled with bloodlust. "So vampires killed your parents, huh?" he lifted his head and his eyes were glowing red, and a dark aura surrounded him.
"Well now you can go stay with them."
It happened so fast that the ravenette almost couldn't keep up. The vampire quickly and gently set Rika down, then got busy. He leapt towards the leader, then bit his neck. Hard. Zoro pulled back harshly, taking a chunk of the kids neck with him. The leader dropped to the ground, but Zoro didn't pay any mind as he quickly whipped around and bit another guy's wrist, because the guy was aiming to punch him. The greenette turned his head fast, breaking the kids wrist and puncturing a few more veins than before when he was bitten. He was then kicked in the stomach, and fell. Zoro grabbed the three katana on the ground and hooked them to his waist, and right after he did that he drew one-the white one-and stabbed the next guy in the shoulder, then cut downwards, creating a waterfall of blood. He then started slashing seemingly nothing, though he was making projectiles of air fly and puncture the skin of the last two standing. They, like their comrades, fell to the cold ground. Zoro shook some of the blood off the sword, then sheathed it and went over to Rika.
Now that there was no one in the way, the ravenette could see Zoro clearly. He was covered in blood (possibly his own) and bruises. Three earrings dangled from his left ear, glimmering teardrops of gold in the moonlight. He had tan-ish skin (he couldn't tell, it was dark) and harsh, yet calming silver eyes. The bearer of the straw hat didn't want to look away from them.
Thinking, yet not thinking, the ravenette stepped into the ally, making himself known to the vampire. Zoro didn't seem all to surprised though, as he picked up Rika and held her protectively. "If you're planning to hurt her too, you can get lost." He simply said, sending a glare.
The ravenette grinned. "Nope! Wouldn't dream of it! My name's Luffy! Who are you?" Zoro looked a bit startled at the statement, but quickly covered it up and looked down at Rika. "I'm-" He was cut off by the sound of sirens and the squealing of tires. Zoro snapped his head in their direction eyes narrowed. "Ugh, they're here already?" Luffy knew he was talking about the vampire hunters. He was thinking about how to help when the answer to his wondering was shoved in his face.
"Take Rika to them, and get her help. She probably won't make it without medical attention." the vampire pleaded as he gently shoved Rika to Luffy. The ravenette quickly nodded and took the girl, looking tiny in the younger boy's arms. "I'll find a way to pay you back." Zoro said, and he took off at the speed of sound before Luffy could protest to his leave. He was soon surrounded by people and the defending sound of sirens, looking at the place that the vampire had occupied, before handing over Rika and telling them that she had been choked, and nothing more.
"-uffy! Luffy! WAKE UP!" A pair of onyx eyes snapped open, trying to register what exactly they were looking at. A kid with tan skin and a long nose obscured most of his vision, but there was a glimpse of orange hair and pink fabric behind him. "Luffy, what happened? You passed out in the middle of the street!" The long-nosed boy yelled, backing away from Luffy so the boy could sit up properly. Around him was a girl with orange hair, a boy with a pink hat, and the long-nose guy. "You guys…what happened?" Luffy asked, rubbing his head.
"We were walking home from school and you randomly passed out!" The boy with the pink hat said, wide eyes panicking. "I thought you died! What happened?" Luffy squinted his eyes in concentration, trying to remember the weird dream he had. "I had a weird dream…" he trailed off before he widened his eyes and the dream came flooding back to him. "Hey, Luffy? Are you okay?" The orange haired girl said in concern and put her hand on his shoulder. Luffy flashed his signature smile. "Yeah Nami, I'm fine!" He hopped up and stretched, then continued to walk in the direction of his home. "You said you had a weird dream," the long nosed kid said, running next to Luffy. "What was it about?"
"Usopp! Don't force him to remember. It might cause him brain damage!" The pink hatted teen yelled, jumping on the kid named Usopp. "No Chopper, it's fine!" Luffy said, waving of the one named Chopper. "It was about a vampire protecting a little girl named Rika, I think that was her name. It looked so real too…" The straw hatted teen stopped walking abruptly and turned his head to look into an alleyway. A glimmer of gold shone in his eyes, and when it disappeared, the scene replayed itself in front of Luffy in that same alley, like a second coating on reality. The vampire was dancing, slashing the older boys with the white-hilted sword.
"Did you say her name was Rika…" Nami asked, then trailed off when she saw Luffy staring. "Um…Luffy?" Said teen snapped out of his daze and whipped his head to look at Nami. "Hm?"
"She asked if the girl's name in your dream was Rika," Chopper said, showing confusion at Luffy's momentary daydream. "Yeah! It was Rika!" Luffy smiled at Chopper, then switched his gaze to Nami. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, I know a girl named Rika. She lives at the adoption center. Apparently her family was killed by vampires." Nami finished, re-shouldering her backpack. Usopp nodded. "Yeah, Kaya used to be in the same adoption center." Luffy blinked, then registered the information. "That's GREAT! I'M GONNA GO MEET HER!" He shouted with determination, pumping a fist in the air. Nami smacked his head. "Idiot! The center is closed for visitors on Thursdays! It's when they have their homeschooling sessions. You can go tomorrow, I'll come too since I know her." Luffy jumped for joy, but Chopper broke the long string of cheers. "If Rika's family was killed by vampires, though, why would she be saved by one? That confuses me."
"In the dream, she looked to be really young, like a baby or toddler," Luffy said, stroking his chin while walking. "So maybe Zoro felt sorry for her?"
"Whoa whoa, hold up, who's Zoro?" Usopp asked, catching up to Luffy with his knees shaking. Luffy knew it was the vampire in his dream, except he saw Usopp scared so he carefully dodged the question. "Why do you want to know?" He asked in a carefree attitude. Usopp's whole body started shaking. "He was known as one of the most fierce vampires of them all! He also took on an entire vampire hunting group called Baroque Works, and defeated a bunch of their cronies and their right hand man! He is described as a demon in a vampire form, bloodlust so large that it can't fit into a human body! Roronoa Zoro!" By this, Chopper had stopped walking and froze in his spot, shaking furiously. Nami glared at Usopp, comforting Chopper, but Luffy could see the hidden scaredness in her eyes.
The ravenette himself was confused. If Zoro was supposed to be a demon, then why did he help Rika? She must have been one of his precious people, for he saw the gleaming red of his eyes in the vision after she had been choked. He was no longer sure it was a dream. It looked too real, and the fact that Zoro and Rika were actual people seemed like more than just a coincidence. He continued walking, deciding to think about it later. Instead he asked: "Hey Nami, what were those meat things you had at lunch today? Those were yummy~"
Luffy opened the door to his apartment, going in and locking it behind him. He lived alone, his grandpa had went on a business trip to hunt. The teen kicked off his shoes, threw his backpack across the room and instantly went to the kitchen. He grabbed some random edible object and took it into the living room to watch his favorite show. Halfway into it, he couldn't help but notice a presence in the room, but not one that he could see. It was calm and warming, yet dangerous, like if you did one thing to anger it even a little bit, you would be on the verge of death. Luffy tried to ignore it, but he couldn't, it was starting to suffocate him. "What do you want?" he asked, receiving no answer. His eyebrows scrunched together in confusion, and he turned off the TV. "Hm…it went away. That was weird." He said, then shrugged it off as his imagination. Luffy then realized the time, quickly made (and ate) dinner then changed and went to bed.
After all, vampire hunting school did start early in the morning.
A cloaked figure walked into a shop at the dead of night. "Hello, how may I hel-" the cashier started, then cut off when he saw the other. "Oh, it's you." He scowled at the figure, while the other walked over to the counter. "If you're going to ask for your girlfriend's life back, forget it."
"No," the figured growled, exposing two sharp pearly-white fangs. The man tilted his head with a smirk, thinking he was going to leave. "Oh? Well then, what do you want?" The figure lifted it's head up a bit, to reveal sharp, gleaming silver eyes with a filament of red over them.
"I want my friend's memories back."
