Elizabeth stood at the window inside her house watching the snow fall. She hadn't really felt the Christmas spirit this year. But her boys were happy and that's all that mattered. Sipping her cocoa she reflected on the past months. Lucky had moved on and so had Nikolas, not that she could blame them. She had cheated on Lucky, had made him into the town joke. Nikolas had loved her and she threw back in his face, fought him tooth and nail, and refused to let him in her life. The nurse decided she deserved to be alone. Aidan was with Nikolas, Spencer and Cameron with Lucky. They had given her Christmas with them; the least she could do in return is let them spend New Year's Eve with their fathers. Looking at the clock it showed 11:53. Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year Eve on in the background. A knock on her door broke her from her train of thoughts. Putting down her mug she made her way to the front door. Opening it she was surprised by who it revealed.
"Matt?"
"Hi."
"Hi." They stood in silence. It wasn't until he gave a shiver that she remembered he was standing outside in the snow, "Come in."
"Sorry about the snow." He apologized attempting to knock it off before coming in.
"Don't worry about it. Mother of three boys remember?" She replied closing the door behind him
"Where are the boys anyway?"
"Aidan is with Nikolas, Spence and Cam are with Lucky."
"All alone tonight?"
"Just me, Dick Clark, and some hot cocoa."
"Sounds fun."
"I guess. What about you?"
"Is this your polite way of asking me what I'm doing here?"
"No Matt that's not what I meant at all…I just meant…"
"Five, four, three, two, on…" The doctor took a step until he was directly in front of Elizabeth. Bridging the gap between their lips Matt leaned down. He was sweet at first touch, gentle trying to wait and see how she would respond to his actions. When he was about to pull away she brought him closer wrapping her arms around his neck. Opening her mouth she allowed him more access making him moan. Feeling him smile the one she wore grew. When air became a necessity she pulled back leaving him with one last peck.
"That's what I'm doing here."
"Oh. You mean you came all the way over here just to give me a New Years kiss?"
"No, I came all this way to share a New Years kiss. It sets the tone for the entire year you know?"
"I hope so."
"May I kiss you again?"
"It's after midnight."
"Exactly. The tone's already been set I'm just trying to go with it." Laughing she obliged him with another kiss.
