What was there to say, or at the very least what was I supposed to do? Now and again without clockwork I'd arrive at The Brew and there she would be, laughing with her friends, drinking probably the most expensive coffee on the menu. She deffinately hadn't changed from highschool in fact none of them had. The queen bee of Rosewood High and her best friends, Hanna, Aria and Spencer. The worst thing was I used to be one of them. I wonder if she'd changed, she must have maybe seeing as she now teaches english at the school. The quick glares I was now recieving from the women suggested I'd been staring too long and now had been caught so I gather the case files from the table as well as my jacket from the back of the chair and head out the door back to the station, I was on duty after all and this new case was bringing up memories I wanted to forget. I head to my car across the street and sling my jacket and case files in the back seat. Just as I was about to slam the door shut I felt a tap on my shoulder, turning around I was now standing directly in front of the woman that has quite frankly been on my mind for a very long time; Alison Dilaurentis. "Hi, sorry you dropped this back at the coffee place, I'd never forget your face. How longs it been Emily? You left Rosewood without a word." she said passing me the file, smiling straight at me. Why did she have to be so damn gorgeous. "Sorry yeah thanks for that, if I'd lost that my boss would not be best pleased seeing as I havn't been here for that long. Im Detective Fields now." I grabbed the file and smiled gently back. "Nice too know, I guess I will be seeing more of you around and a catch up sometime would be good," she said as she winked and walked away leaving me stunned, there was no way that Alison Dilaurentis just flirted with me. That soon put a smile on my face as I slammed the door shut, put on my shades, started my car and drove back to work.
Placing the case files on my desk, I tap the keyboard to turn on the computer screen. I place my jacket on the back of the chair and sit down. Seeing Alison and my old friends again stirred up memories and part of the reason I left so sudden; being the weakest link. I opened the case file and suddenly got to work, searching Alison and my ex friends, would it be possible for them to be part of this murder? what motives did they have or were they still involved in the game that I played so many years ago; the reason I left this town in the first place. I searched through all the files on the computer, nothing had happened since we had been in school, it felt like I was coming to a dead end. The murder of local business man and author Ezra Fitz surely wasn't by coincidence, I had to get to the bottom of it and I knew someone in Rosewood would be hiding something.
"Burke I need you to get these women in for questioning, we need information and I certainly know for sure that one of these knows something and I need answers by the end of today," giving him the case files on the 4 women that knew Ezra Fitz so well.
Being a detective had its perks and I certainly had to build up my stern agressive reputation to get to where I am today. Sweet caring Emily was set in the past and I'm glad I stayed away from this town for the past ten years. The secret surrounding me leaving no one knows and im willing to keep that locked inside my head and to never be let it be known to anyone.
