Scandalous Affairs: She Grieved

As I promised, this story is undergoing construction. I won't change much from the older version. my focus is on rearranging the story line so that it flows easier. I am going to space it out, and give a more logical direction to the story. Let me know what you think about the prologue.

This story is very different from all my other stories, so don't judge my other stories until you read them because you think they might all be like this.

This story will start out odd with lots of sexual involvement, but that will lead to the main story. All that sexual things is necessary to understand the full plot of this story. It may not make sense now but I promise you by the end of the story everything will be clear.

Of course this story will get on the nerves of many Serena and Darien's fans but this story IS a Darien and Serena story even though in the beginning it might not look it. Now whether it ends up as a happily ever after or tragedy, that is for me to decide.

Enjoy!

Summary: Used, taken advantaged off, emotionally abuse, and physically scarred but all this changed when a moment's insanity gave her the will to fight back. Now she is taking a step and she will stop at nothing until she has taken her pound of flesh.

Prologue – How They Met

Narrator

She was wide awake. At 3 a.m. in the morning, she was wide awake. This fact frustrated Serena more than anything else. Sure she had had a couple drinks, and had party all night and returned home less than an hour ago. Shouldn't all these things be a reason why she should be knocked out cold? So why was she so wide awake?

She sighed, turning onto her back and looking up at the ceiling with the exaggerated ornamental ceiling fan. She sighed again. Every time she closed her, things she had thought she'd forgotten would rise up to the surface.

"Why is it so hard to forget?" she wondered out loud. In the past week, her memories had been actively seeking a way out of the black hole in her heart. Why? She had no answer to that, she had but to close her eyes and the memories would surge forward like a tidal wave.

She sighed again, rising to her feet and walking to the glass wall that overlooked a large body of water. Her room was big with lots of space furnished tastefully with wood crafted wardrobes and antique vanities fit for a queen. Her room lacked nothing, her life was like a fairytale and she was a beautiful woman married to an extremely successful and handsome businessman. There was nothing she couldn't have if she wanted it. Yet for all her advantages, she was the bitterest person in the world.

Standing by the glass wall which opened up to a spacious veranda, Serena wondered what would happen if she gave in and closed her eyes. She wondered if letting the memories in would destroy everything she had worked so hard to build, destroy the wall that protected her from further hurt?

'Will it break me again?' she wondered. Sighing for the thousandths time, she bent and took to a sitting position.

"Will I be ok again if I let the memories in?"

To test the theory, she closed her eyes and opened them right away when the first image the popped up was of herself and her husband six years ago.

"No!" she gasped loudly, her heart beating so fast she could hear it.

'Just forget it. Forget it.' With that thought, she sat for several eyes until dawn had come and gone before giving into sleep's seductive call. But as soon as her eyes closed, the memories she had tried so hard to repress assaulted her in her dreams, rolling the film of her past like a flashback.

And in her dream, just like the day she had first met him, it began with a cloudy night…

Flashback/Dream

"Stupid rain." She muttered as she jogged through it. She was wet, cold, not in a good mood and hungry. She knew the others were worried so she speed up from jogging to a full out dash, hoping to get home soon. It was a dark night but her years in the dark had given me a sort of cat like vision that allowed her to almost as clear in the dark as she did in the light. As she ran, she heard whistles and the cries of war. Which just meant that the street rats and the gangster wannabes had just cornered a prey. She felt no need to get involve with them but she could not repress her curiosity as to what kind of prey they had picked up this time. Taking off in the direction they were all running to, Serena took quickly caught up to them and bypassed them to get ahead by taking shorter routes. She soon saw the man who had now become the target of the gangster wannabes. The person they were running after was a man, a tall man. He looked behind him to see how close his pursues were and she saw the fear in his face. She sighed, knowing there was no way she could not help him. When he turned back around to run, he tripped and began to fall. She quickly grabbed his hand and yanked him up, nearly sending the both of them stumbling on the floor but luckily she was able to grasp something to keep their footing.

He looked at her with fear, probably thinking his days were up. She didn't have time to stare at him in return. She looked up as she heard approaching footsteps.

"Ah, our street goddess has caught him for us. Now sweetheart, send him to daddy." Jack, the most respected street rat and gangster wannabe master said, causing Serena to roll her eyes. He was a classless idiot in her book; the only reason why everyone feared him was because of his huge size and his strength.

"Cut it out Jack. I found him, he is my prey." she responded. She had never liked jack. He had tried so hard to make her his woman and had tried on several occasions to rape her. On each occasion, she had been saved by pepper sprays and Lita.

"Now now sweet thing, it's good to share." He sneered.

"I'm warning you Jack, I have no intentions of getting in a fight today with you so just let him and I pass." She said to. Jack barked a laughter and his clowns chuckled.

"No sweetie, you see, my boys are hungry. The man you have in your hands looks rich enough to feed us all."

"Is that so, well then, all the more reason for me to keep him all to myself." She replied. There was absolute silence.

"Serena I'm serious, give him to me!"

"No freaking way."

"If that is your wish. I hope you have your will return. Get them!" he ordered and his followers began inching towards the odd pair. There were two ways Serena noted she could use to get out. The first and most dangerous way was going straight through them. If it had been her alone she would have no problem doing so but with this man on her shoulder, it was suicidal. The second way of getting out was running towards them and making a quick dash to the left. It was a longer way of getting him out of the ghetto but it was her only choice.

"Hey you, how fast a runner are you?" She asked urgently.

"Fair."

"And how agile are you." she asked again.

"Above average." He answered.

"Good, then do exactly as I do. Take this and cut out whoever gets in your way. It's either us or them; make your decision with this blade." She said while handing him one of her many little foot long blades.

"Let's go." She said, charging. Charging them straight away instead of looking as if she was going to take the exit at the left threw them for a loop, something she had been counting on. Those who reached her she cut them down, and on some she sprayed pepper into their eyes. She bent as she ran and tripped a fool that was charging at her.

"Help me." She said to him and together they lifted the fool she had tripped and threw him at those charging at them.

"To the left!" she whispered urgently and dashed quickly for it, hearing his heavy footsteps behind me.

"After them! Don't let them get away!" Jack screamed in anger. Serena was a very fast runner so she knew that if she didn't grasp his hand, she would lose sight of him. She reached behind her and he took her hand. They ran, taking shorts cuts their chasers didn't know, hiding out when it was too risky to run in the open or when they were both too tired to run. She didn't know how long this went on; all she could think was that they needed to get to the hideout. She could not even attempt to take him back to the main street where because there would be many witness, the street rats would not dare pursue. Pressing on, Serena and the man fought when they came across their chasers but otherwise stuck to shot cuts.

Finally, they lost their pursuer's but she knew turning back around was not an option. Silently and watchfully, Serena led him through a series of underground tunnels and short cuts and resurfaced back up. They arrived at a huge dark mansion that had been abandoned and unkempt for many years. The mansion was fenced in but had a secret passage for entry and exit. She stopped him and turned back to look at him. He seemed so weary.

"From now on you cannot look. I need to blind fold you."

"Why?" he asked.

"Because we don't like strangers knowing the route to our home." He seemed ready to protest but the look she gave him silenced him. She took from her forehead a long ribbon she often used to tie her hair when it wasn't hiding underneath a net.

"Is this necessary?" he asked.

"Yes." He sighed.

"It's either this or that." He said and stretched his hand. She was impressed. The hardest part about saving people from being mug was getting them to wear the blindfold. She covered his eyes and I went to his back and tightened the fold and went over his eyes one more time to make sure there was no possible way of peeking.

"What is your name?" he asked.

"You don't have to worry about that. By morning we will have you back where it is safe and you can forget all about this night." She said indifferently.

"My name is Darien."

"I don't really care. I forget names that are unimportant." She took his hand.

"Follow me and do as I say when I say it." She instructed. She took him all around the fence until the fence reached the forest behind the abandoned mansion. At the edge of the forest was a big tree, the fence went out all around the house even through the forest. It was a very long fence.

"Stand here." She told him and he obeyed. Bending down, she dug her hand under the fence to the root of the tree. There was a very small string which could never be detected by the naked eye, especially in the kind of weather they were having that night. She grabbed the string and pulled at it several times. From atop the tree, a rope ladder fell and she caught it. Grabbing his hand, she settled the ladder on the floor.

"Put your hands around my waist." She instructed him. She guided his hand to one side of her waist and he did the rest.

"Now lift up your leg and stretch it a little forward." Without question he did so, touching the wood of the ladder.

"We are about to climb up. The ladder moves quite a lot so please don't shuffle around. You have your leg on the first step of the ladder. My hand will be that which lifts us up. You are to move your legs according to which side of my body lifts up understood." He nodded and she sighed. He was going to be heavy but her body was trained for endurance. She grasped the ladder and positioned one leg on the step on top of the one his leg was positioned on. She took a second step then a third to test the weight. It was fine.

"Now." She said, taking another step and he did the same. Surprisingly, he was very easy to climb up with. Her previous experiences with blind folded people had never been this smooth. When they reached the top, she stretched a hand to grab a firm branch on the tree.

"Stretch a hand forward." She informed him. He tightened one of his had around the front of my waist and reached forward and grasped a step on the ladder.

"Good…now reach forward with the other hand too." He did. He stretched out a hand up to grasp the last step of the ladder above and his other hand followed. This flattened his body against hers, causing a shiver to ran down her spine and a gasp to escape her lips.

"Well?" He whispered, his mouth right next to her ear and his breath dancing on her skin. She blinked at the sensation, having never experienced it before.

'What the heck was that about?' she thought silently.

"Loosen yourself a bit away from me." She commanded. There was a pause before he leaned away. She took the chance to use the hand on the ladder to grasp a different branch and pull herself up. When she was up on the tree, she sighed with her hand resting on her chest.

'Why is heart beating so fast?' She turned back to him.

"Hold on tightly, the ladder is about to move." She informed.

"Ok." He replied. She grasped a hold of the rope on each side.

"On the count of Three, I need you to lift your legs as high up in the air as you can alright?"

"Ok." Tightly she held the ropes.

"One…..Two….." I yanked the rope high up and to the left. "Three!" and as the rope flew, he lifted his legs. However things didn't go as she imagined. He landed on the floor on the inside of the fence but the ladder remained on the outside. She heard a curse and a moan of pain and she winced sympathetically.

"What the hell?"

"Just stay right there." She told him and quickly rolled up the ladder and hid it among the foliage of the tree before climbing down to join him. He sat with his hands holding his head.

"I'm sorry. I hadn't meant for that to happen, you were just too heavy." She explained.

"Jeez, thanks." He replied sarcastically.

"Shall we go?" She said and grasped his hand. He stood up and followed her. They walked to the back of the mansion to the side where the kitchen was. She knocked six times on the door, on the second, fourth and sixth time, the volume of the knock was louder. Then she wrapped her fingers on the door as you would on a keyboard if typing fast. That was their secret code to getting the door open for you. If a single beat was missed, the door would not be open for the purpose of security. Soon the door opened for me.

"Se…."

"Shssh." she immediately shushed the girl who opened the door.

"Oh."

"Yeah." She answered.

Serena entered, leading the man in the direction of the basement where their activities with fire and light would not be detected. The girl who opened the door ran ahead to warn the rest of the group of their visitor. When Serena appeared in their little encampment, they all watched her for confirmation that all was well. She dropped the man's hand and immediately felt a loss of warmth. She untied his blindfold. When the blindfold was off, he blinked and closed his eyes before opening it again. He had to adjust his eyes to the lamp like light burning in the room.

"He's safe guys." She said and murmurs went around.

"What happened?" the girl who had opened the door for their entry asked.

"He was being chased by Jack and his clowns."

"Oh dear."

"Yeah well, can you take care of him so I can go and dry up?" Serena asked and the nodded. She turned and looked at him. He stared at her. For a minute she could not say anything. His eyes, the deepest blue, she'd ever seen bewitched her. They were like a midnight blue or an angry ocean on a dark night. She shook her head.

'What the heck am I thinking!?'

"You're safe here but for the night you will have to stay here. We will get you back to civilization in the morning." She said to him before walking away from him.

End of Flashback/Dreams

Serena moaned as her dream came to a screeching halt with the sun's burning intrusion into her room. Because she had fallen asleep sitting by the glass wall, the sun easily fell on her face when it rose up to the sky. Waking up slowly, Serena glared at the mid-afternoon sun. She felt an enormous headache rising, a result of the seven cups of strong alcohol she had drank the previous night and the awakening of her memories through her dreams. Deciding not to give thoughts to her dream, Serena rose to her feet and went in search of her bathroom to prepare for another day of fun and wickedness.

Within the hour, she was showered and dressed, well as dressed as one can be in a very short jean skirt and a top that consisted of a lacy white bra and a complete see through high-lo shirt. Clicking her ear rings in place and placing a pearl bracelet on her left wrist, Serena appraised her appearance in the mirror and blew herself a kiss before exiting her room.

She had taken a pill of aspirin to sooth the headache before taking a shower so it was starting to take effect.

Leaving her bedroom, she appeared in the living room and found her husband busy reading the morning paper. Disregarding his presence, she headed for the door until he stopped her with a question.

"Where are you going?"
