Hi guys! For those of you who read His King and wanted more on that fic, I'm thinking of writing a collection of oneshots, but I can't decide if they should be Drarry or not. I may also continue this fic, but it's a question of if I can come up with a good enough idea.
Disclaimer: Neither of them belongs to me, but I am the Puppetmaster. I control them! Mwahahahaha! (They're JKR's creations.)
Thank you so so much for taking the time to read this!
Remus paused outside of the dorm room, listening for all the signs he knew were there, and hoping, with everything he was, that they weren't there. Alas, they were, just like they were at the start of every other year. He could hear slight sniffling along with the rustling of sheets, and he knew it was Sirius. He knew Sirius was in pain, and he also knew he was completely helpless to stop Sirius' pain. No matter how helpless he was, he still knocked on the door, hoping to bring Sirius some comfort.
He knocked twice, hoping for an answer, knowing that a silently suffering Sirius was worse than a loudly sobbing Sirius, and wishing Sirius would call out in a pained voice for him to come in. No answer. Remus took a deep breath, fortifying himself for Sirius' sake, because he mustn't cry when Sirius cried, he had to be strong, to save Sirius and not himself.
"Pads," he whispered softly. "Pads, I'm here. It's Moony."
And Sirius rasped, half to himself and half to Remus, "Moony? Moony's here?" Every word scraped against Remus, chiseling away the few pieces of Remus' heart which didn't already belong to Sirius. He sat down on a corner of the bed, resting his hand on Sirius' shoulder.
"I'm here, Pads," Moony whispered, before he murmured the sweet lies resting on the tip of his tongue, the words he knew would never be true. "It's okay, Pads. It'll be alright soon." Because Moony knew it would never be alright. He knew Sirius' crazy mother wouldn't stop hurting Sirius, and his father wouldn't stop staring cruelly through Sirius, pretending he didn't notice his son slowly falling apart. Regulus wouldn't stop being an idiot and acting like Sirius was a disgrace just because of his House. "It's alright, Siri."
Sirius whimpered, and the shoulder Remus' hand was resting on changed shape, became furry. Remus watched sadly, knowing this was his best friend's only way out, the only way for Sirius to stop the flood of heartbreak and sorrow.
"Oh, Siri," Remus whispered brokenly, having watched and been part of this scene too many times, having watched his best friend break over and over again. Padfoot curled up in dog form, his head in Remus' lap, and sighed. "Oh, my Sirius. It will be alright. I promise."
And Remus watched over Sirius long after he fell asleep, staying just in case Sirius woke up screaming, his eyes haunted with memories of his family. He stayed, hoping his presence would be enough, hoping Sirius wouldn't have another panic attack, hoping Remus wouldn't be running madly to the infirmary, Sirius in his arms, yet again.
Let me know if you liked it! Please, please review, it makes me really happy to read your thoughts!
P.S. The panic attack thing is something which has happened to me. I sometimes get really overwhelmed and start hyperventilating to the point of passing out, so that is what I'm referring to.
Again, thank you so so much for reading!
XOXO,
The Dark Queen
