Tamaki and Kyoya sat at a large round table with an array of magazines trying to pick a possible theme for the next event their club would hold. However there was great discrepancy between the two teens' ideas and things were progressing slowly.
"How about a tropical paradise theme?" Tamaki suggested brightly.
"No," Kyoya responded boredly, adjusting his glasses as he typed away on a laptop. "We've done that before. Besides, considering how much money we spend on decor and costumes last time, it really wasn't worth it."
"Okay…" Tamaki said slowly. "How about… an underwater theme!"
Kyoya groaned "And what," he asked in annoyance, "is the difference between tropical and underwater?"
"There's lots of differences, Kyo! You just have to use your imagination!" The energetic teen responded, much too loudly in Kyoya's opinion.
"Imagination?" Kyoya scoffed. "I'm just fine with being a realist, thank you very much. And don't call me Kyo." The bespeckled teen then snapped his laptop shut and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Can't we do something simpler this week?" he sighed, "Something that won't run this club's finances into the ground?"
"Of course not!" Tamaki began in a dramatic fashion. "We must always provide our guests with a magical safe haven which can temporarily shelter them from the harsh troubles of the world and do so in a way that keeps them entertained and joyful! And that means fun themes! Honestly Kyo, sometimes I think you've forgotten what this club is all about! You might as well condemn this club to an eternity of boredom!"
"There he goes calling me Kyo again," Kyoya muttered in an aside. "You know that's a ridiculous notion seeing as I keep this club running, right?" he said, now addressing his friend. "I mean for god's sake I'm basically the treasurer, secretary and publicist all in one!"
Tamaki seemed like he was about to make another comment but he hesitated. His expression was overcome with guilt and his eyes began tearing up. "You do work really hard, don't you Kyo?" His bottom lip began to quiver. "And to think that all of my eccentric ideas have caused my friend so much trouble..."
"No, no, no Tamaki don't-" but it was too late. Overcome with grief, Tamaki wrapped Kyoya up in bear hug and began apologizing profusely.
"Ack! Tamaki get off!" He shoved his friend roughly. "It's fine, I forgive you."
"...really?" Tamaki asked timidly.
Kyoya rolled his eyes. "Yes, really."
And suddenly any sign that Tamaki had been grieving disappeared as he began jump up in the air and cheering.
"Yippee! Kyo! My friend! Mon Amie!"
"Will you pipe down!?" Kyoya barked.
But it was no use. And Kyoya knew that. He had been dealing with Tamaki for years now and had come to accept the fact that, no matter what, he would never be able to catch up with the unpredictable, dynamic and overzealous child Tamaki was. Yet through all of the crazy antics Tamaki dragged him into, he also knew they would always the best of friends.
