The Idea That Changed Us All
Harry Potter and his wife, Ginny Weasley, were waiting on platform 9 ¾ for the Hogwarts Express to bring their kids back home. They were very excited to see their children, as they had been gone for the majority of the year, so they were on the platform very early. After waiting impatiently on a bench right by the tracks, their family friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger sauntered up to the pair. By now both of the couples children were off to Hogwarts every fall.
"Harry! Good to see you!" Ron exclaimed.
"It's only been four days Ron!" Harry replied.
"Well aren't you happy to see me anyways?" Ron said
"Of course Ron." Ginny hugged her brother.
"Well we still have about a half hour until the train is expected to arrive." Hermione said.
"I hope they had a good year." Harry tentatively reached up and touched his lightning shaped scar.
"They'll be fine sweetie." Ginny placed her hand on Harry's shoulder.
"Well, they don't have a psychotic murderer and his evil minions after them." Ron, always one to joke about it.
"Our story has made the Wizarding World a better place all together. Imagine if we could share it with the muggle world." Hermione said wistfully.
"Bloody Hell Hermione, that would mean exposing the whole society!" Ron exclaimed.
"No Ron, I mean like a book. The muggles wouldn't think it's real!" Hermione said.
"We can't write a book!" Ron replied.
"Hmm… I guess you're right. If only we could get someone else to do it for us… never mind, stupid idea." Hermione said wistfully.
The four friends sat talking for a while in the cool spring breeze. The platform was perfectly clean with lines of benches on the side of the tracks. They sat and waited very patiently for the train. When the familiar toot of the train in the distance came, the friends looked over to the distance with excitement. When the train finally rolled up to the platform and the children emerged, they were ecstatic. The reunion was full of kisses, inspections, and "How was the train ride?" After Harry got the news on how Neville Longbottem was, the families walked back into the regular world, the world that me and you know.
"Wait for me in the car, I forgot something back on the platform." Hermione said to her husband.
"Ok Hermione. Come on, you heard your mother, to the car!" Ron said to his kids.
Even though she told her husband that the idea of sharing their adventures at Hogwarts was stupid, Hermione still couldn't forget the idea. Now Hermione was a smart person, so she knew what to do. She picked out from her memories all of the things that had happened to Harry, Ron, and her. But mostly Harry, he was the Boy Who Lived after all. She took the memories of the things Harry had told her when they were apart. What she did with these memories is legendary. Hermione has a good instinct, luckily, and picked just the right person. Her tattered bag said Rowling in frayed thread. She didn't look like anyone special, but Hermione had a very good choice of what mind to put these memories. She left enough room in the memories for the one called Rowling to fill in between the lines. She left enough memories to have the poor-looking Rowling write a brilliant story in which changed us all.
