Superman

~ He is not her hero. She don't really need saving anyway. ~

There she was, laying down on the cold marble floor; hands raised up as if grabbing something that only she can see. Her voice, soft and sweet, echo in the empty tower. Hearing the sound of his footstep, she turned her head and smiled at his direction. Without a word, he lay down beside her. His tired lavender eyes stared at back at her. Slowly, she reached up her hand and caress his left cheek as her song come to an end.

"What is it Levi? Did you come to say goodbye?" she asked him playfully, lips quirked up into a mischievous smile. "I'm going to die tomorrow you know."

Answering her with his own smile, he nodded his head back at her; eyes crinkled up from his smile. "Yeah. So how are you feeling?"

Laughing coldly at his question, she pushed herself up from the floor before falling back on him. Her head on his chest, her ear pressed to his heart, she continued laughing. "Nauseous. Being pregnant is not fun at all. A small mercy that I'm going to die tomorrow." Somehow the soothing sound of his heart beat help to calm the queasy feeling at the back of her throat.

"I pray that this child won't be lonely there." she wish silently as she took in a deep breath. Dragging deep into her lungs the cold, crisp air and the cinnamon and tea scent that always lingered around him; she closed her eyes.

One hand on the small bump on her abdomen while another working on the tangle in her silky hair, he hummed back in response. Before he knows it, his bass voice filled the room and not long after her own coloratura contraltos mixed with his. By midnight when their voice long faded into the silent darkness, he held her close.

"Goodbye Lacie. I'm going to miss you" he whispered into the silent night.

And Lacie, she held into her silence as his whispered words lost with the cold winter wind.

He is not her hero they know that. But Lacie, she don't really need saving anyway.
