Disclaimer- I don't actually need to write a disclaimer, as this could TECHNICALLY be about anyone. But I think we know who they are ;-D
Pronouns.
He walked along the hallway.
She glanced up from her work at the sound of his footsteps.
He opened the door and stepped into the office, closing it behind him.
She gave a small smile in greeting.
He gave a small smile in return.
They didn't say anything.
They both weren't sure why, but there was no need to say anything, short of discussing the weather.
And they were past formalities like that.
He held out a plane ticket to her.
She took it, and looked at it.
He explained about an interesting pattern of strange cases in that area.
She raised an eyebrow at him.
He smiled, and said please.
She couldn't help smiling back, and she reluctantly agreed.
They met at an airport, a few hours later.
She ordered coffee. He paid.
They waited at the terminal for there flight to be called in.
On board he pulled out a large bag of sunflower seeds.
She ordered root beer. They were out of stock. The flight attendant suggested Mineral Water, but he suggested Iced Tea.
He handed her some case files.
She found three problems with the autopsy reports in about twenty seconds.
He raised an eyebrow at her.
He put the files on the tray attached to the back of the seat in front of them, beside the sunflower seeds and the iced tea.
He reached to take the bag of seeds.
His arm knocked over the bottle of iced tea (don't knock it until you've tried it), onto her lap.
she gasped in shock and the ice-cold tea soaked into her skirt.
She hit him with her in-flight magazine.
He laughed slightly, as he saw her pale suit begin to stain.
She hit him with it again, laughing herself.
Her skirt dried.
the in-flight movie was boring.
the plane landed without incident.
It was a regular flight, on a regular (for them) case, on a regular day.
But they never got tired of it.
Their job was ten times more exciting than the in-flight movie, and they loved each others company, no matter how much they irritated each other.
and they loved each other.
THE END
