Annabeth POV
It was 3 am in the Athena cabin and Annabeth hadn't slept a
wink. She had tried everything. She had counted sheep. She had counted backwards
from one hundred, listened to music and simply staring into space. But sleep
would not come. Annabeth had considered sneaking out but she had already done
that twice this week and it wouldn't do to press her luck. The person above her
groaned and rolled over in his sleep.

Suddenly Annabeth's phone lit up
with a text. She snatched it off the night stand. She squinted unhappily in the
sudden brightness. She saw it was bobby her younger stepbrother. The text
read:
Annabeth! Dads plane crashed. He is still alive but we are all waiting
at the hospital. Ill text u again when ive more info. Love you

It took a
minute for the text to sink in. She felt tears rising up in her eyes. Quickly
Annabeth pulled a sweatshirt over her tank top and tucked her flannels into her
boots. In seconds she was running outside. She sprinted to the stables still
holding her phone.

She dragged open the stable doors all the meanwhile
searching for porkpie. She tripped over someone on the ground. It was
Percy. "Annabeth wha-" started Percy a look of bewilderment spreading across
his face. Then she started sobbing. It had been to much. Work on Olympus was
stressful and now her dad was in trouble. Plus the last time they talked… Percy
held her close saying nothing. After a few seconds he asked what was wrong. She
handed him her phone. He held her with one arm and had the phone in his other
hand. After a minute or so he had gotten past the dyslexia and finished reading.
"Gods Annabeth I'm so sorry," he said pulling her closer.

She tried to
control her breathing. "Percy the last thing I told him was that I didn't want
to see him ever again," she said between tears. Percy pulled her over to a
bench. "I need to go see him." She said standing up.

"Annabeth you're not
going anywhere. It's the middle of the night. I promise if you need to go right
now. I won't stop I'll even come, but first we need to know what's going on." He
took her phone and dialed Bobby's number.

"Hey this bobby," he answered
the phone. His voice sounded kind of tight but it was still steady.

"Bobby it's Percy," he said turning away from Annabeth. Percy lowered
his voice slightly. "Could you tell me what's going on with Dr.
Chase?"

"His plane malfunctioned. Dad was able to landed but he was
jostled around quite a bit. He's in the ER now."

"I know but is there any
possibility that he might die? I need to know if I should bring Annabeth now or
wait till the morning."

"Hold on let me ask," he moved his mouth away
from the phone. I heard a muffled conversation on the other end. "Percy you
there?"

"Yeah."

"It can wait until the morning. Promise me you
won't let Annabeth do anything stupid."

"Daughter of Athena do something
stupid? Yeah I'll make sure."

"Alright then, bye."

"Bye," they
hung up. He handed Annabeth back her phone.

"What did he say?" She asked
leaning into Percy's chest.

"He'll be fine. We'll take the Pegasi and
see him in the morning." He lead her back to the Poseidon cabin. She lay down in
an extra bunk and Percy settled into the one next to it."he'll be fine
Wisegirl." She was already asleep.
