It was a cold and rainy Monday morning in New York City. The trees were swaying in the wind. Leaves were falling and sticking to everything and everyone. First of all he hated Monday's, he had other places he wanted to be. But here he was standing in the rain, in the woods getting mud all over his brand new black, Johnson and Murphy, leather, slip on shoes. He had to smile remembering the shopping trip he and Angela took this weekend. They were shopping for his shoes but ended up also looking at baby clothes and wedding dresses. Just thinking of her made him feel all warm inside. Not like this lukewarm coffee he was drinking. He looked toward the SUV Eames was waiting inside with the engine and heater running. While the CSU team was digging up the rest of the bodies. One of them had to stand out is this muck and he got the short straw. But who were they kidding; he would never let her stand out in this weather. The smell was horrible, two police officers had already lost their breakfast, donuts and éclairs it looks like with coffee mixed in. His cell phone rang, maybe its Eames wondering what's taking so long. This was the beginning of a horrible day.
"Goren," he answers harshly.
"Oh, I am sorry Bobby is this a bad time," said Angela.
A warm feeling came over his entire body and a big smile across his face.
"No Hun is everything ok?" he asked.
"Yes, everything is perfect. I went to the doctor appointment. I know you wanted to come, so sorry that case came up, but the doctor said everything looks great. And I talked to Father Frank and we are clear for the wedding in four weeks," she said happily.
"That's wonderful news," he said.
"So how's your day going," she asked.
"It's going to be a great day, dear, a great day." Goren smiled as he hung up the phone. He put his cell back in his pocket. Threw away his coffee he didn't need it. The other officers looked at him strangely why was he smiling at a crime scene. But he didn't care. He was having a great day.
