Hello y'all! If you haven't noticed, this is the rewritten version of my story, Coming Home. Normally I can't read my writing without me cringing, and looking back at this chapter, I noticed that there were a lot of mistakes, flaws, and a lot of things missing out. For that, I decided to rewrite it. Hopefully this is better than the other one I wrote, although this isn't my best writing. I attempted to make this one longer and more in detail. This story is set after the war with Gaia, and there will be mentions of that. Since the House of Hades and the fifth book did not come out yet, I just guessed the outcome. It was just a guess and I have no idea of what is in store for the future. It's not like I have connections with Rick one way or another... but I wish. (:

Thoughts of the characters are in Italics. There will be the thoughts of Annabeth once in a while, and then there will be Percy's. I didn't specify which one is which, though I think you'll know.

Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians or the Heroes of Olympus in any shape or form. Uncle Rick does. –thumbs up-

Empire State Building 600th Floor, Olympus

Annabeth pulled back, her serious expression dissipating and replacing it with delighted one. Her lips curled into a grin as she involuntarily let go of the clipboard she was holding. It fell with a thud, but it was casted aside as Annabeth looked for some flaws around her now completed project. Her calculating eyes did not see any, which made her even happier. Annabeth felt a presence materialize beside her, and although she instantly knew it was her mother, somehow she knew Athena was pleased.

"Congratulations my daughter," the goddess that was also her mother said. "I heard this was your last project?"

Annabeth's smile widened even more. "And it's completed," she confirmed.

The two were looking at a large monument that depicted a very monumental event that occurred during the Second Gigantomachy. (Gigantomachy - In Greek Mythology, it was the war between the Greek Gods and the rebelling giants) It was the closing of the Doors of Death. The Doors of Death were located at the House of Hades, a temple located in Epirus, Greece, and the seven demigods of the prophecy along with Nico were in the monument. Annabeth and Percy, face filled with grime, monster slime, and soot, were fighting some monsters near the doors, while the others were trying to help them on the other side. Leo and Frank were on guard: Leo had an insane grin on his face, and palm was aflame, while Frank had his archer bow at the ready- his face was grim and his jaw set. Piper was trying to pull the two demigods that were trapped in Tartarus towards the mortal side, and the Hekatonkheires (or the Hundred-Handed Ones) were assisting the pair in Tartarus by trying to fight back the monsters. Annabeth remembered meeting them when she was in Tartarus with Percy- Gaia brought them back in hopes of them helping her capture the two demigods. Instead, they befriended them. So much for Dirt-Face's plan...

While Piper was trying to get the two out, Hazel, Nico, and Jason were trying to close the doors on the mortal side. The Hekatonkheires were able to hold the monsters long enough for the two to make it out alive, and the Hundred-Handed Ones then slammed the doors on the opposite side shut. It was a tiring yet small victorious moment for the group- but it costed a lot of things. Annabeth was in debt to the brothers of Briares.

Annabeth bent down to pick up the clipboard she dropped, and biting her lip, she looked back at her mother. "Am I required elsewhere on Olympus?" Sometimes some of the gods threw temper-tantrums, and temples or statues get destroyed. It was kind of a routine.

Athena smiled lightly before handing Annabeth a plane ticket. "You're required somewhere else. I think your parents would like to see you. It's been a while."

Stunned momentarily at the gracious gift, Annabeth took the ticket as if she was in a trance. Blinking rapidly and trying to force the bubble of excitement down, Annabeth smiled in gratitude. She would've also hugged for extra measure, but that would've been a bit weird. Mom was a goddess, and unlike all the other mothers out there, she had golden ichor pumping through her veins. Getting rid of her thoughts, Annabeth finally forced herself to speak.

"Oh my gods. Thank you," she breathed.

Athena nodded. "Your flight is in two weeks,"

Annabeth smiled inwardly. She can't wait to see her family again. Matthew and Bobby, her two younger stepbrothers, were annoying, but they were family. She made amends with her stepmother as well. Dad was also becoming more of a fatherly figure. Though this might sound like a decent life for a normal person, this wasn't for a demigod. Normal was thrown out the window. She might also have a chance of seeing Jason, Reyna, Hazel, and Frank again. The Romans and the Greeks might have been on good terms at the moment, but the two camps weren't united. This may be the case, but life is pretty good.

The smile melted off her face. Wait… two weeks?

"It's in two weeks?" Annabeth meekly murmured, mirroring her own thoughts by saying them out loud.

"Yes," Noticing the predicament, Athena's lips curled into a frown. "Daughter, why do you still date that sea spawn?"

Annabeth shifted in discomfort.

"I love him Mother. Nothing's going to change that,"

Sighing as if she was expecting that answer, Athena sighed. "I trust your judgment, my daughter. I won't hesitate to feed him to my owls,"

Annabeth blinked before smiling. That was comforting. But she knew that was the nicest thing Athena would say about the son of Poseidon. "Thank you Mother!"

With those words, the daughter of Athena ran towards the elevator that would descend towards the bustling city below. She was going to look for her boyfriend, and she was going to have the best two weeks of her life.

JFK International Airport, New York

Pulling up towards the terminal she was required to go to in the JFK Airport, Annabeth exhaled softly. Well. I guess this is it.

Sitting next to her on the driver's seat was her boyfriend, Percy Jackson. He had jet black hair that was today disheveled, and his eyes were tired and exhausted. Annabeth couldn't blame him. They were both wallowing themselves in misery after it finally hit the two that Annabeth was leaving to San Francisco and won't be back for a while.

Annabeth swallowed down the large lump down her throat. "Percy-"

"Why won't I help you get the suitcases out?" Percy asked, forcing a smile. Annabeth frowned slightly. "Hang on a second okay?"

Annabeth was silent momentarily as Percy got out of his blue Mercedes Benz that his parents got for his most recent birthday. She got out shortly, and watched Percy slung one bag over his shoulder as he lugged two suitcases with him.

"Percy, let me help you with those bags-"

She was cut off by Percy once again when he swiftly shook his head. Annabeth made an irritated noise as she simply followed after him.

The two arrived at the airport really early. From there, Annabeth would fly to San Francisco by taking the JetBlue airline.

After receiving Annabeth's boarding pass and giving her heavy luggage to the airplane attendants, the two eventually got into a line so they could go through security check. When they finished, the two then went through all the departments. The girl glanced at the airport bookstore as the two walked by. Oh how she longed to go there…

"Which gate?"

Annabeth barely spared a glance to her boyfriend before replying shortly. "Gate 3,"

Reaching their intended destination, Annabeth gave a small huff as she sat down next to Percy. It was silent between the two as they watched businessmen and businesswomen rush by. There were many seats that were occupied around them, and Annabeth couldn't help but stare at a little infant who was playing with a little Medusa plushie. Despite the situation, Annabeth couldn't help but laugh a little bit.

Percy sighed, which caused her to look at him.

"I'm not good with goodbyes," he confessed. Annabeth smiled softly as she leaned against him.

"I know,"

"You're going to be gone for… for months," Percy replied, completely frustrated. "You don't know how hard that is, not seeing each other for a long time,"

Annabeth's eyes were suddenly casted towards the ground.

"I actually kind of do," Annabeth said softly. Percy's eyes widened as he realized what he said. Shit. What did I just say?

"No- I-" He fumbled over his words before he took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. I'm a jerk right now. I'm just not in the mood today, and-"

Annabeth laughed. "I got it, Seaweed Brain,"

Percy chuckled lowly.

"There's no need to worry about it anyway," Annabeth stated cheerfully. It was just a façade though. She was inwardly bursting into tears on the inside. "Just telling you beforehand, but I'm thinking of going to a bar once I get to San Francisco, and then I'm planning to get drunk, then I'll probably try snag some other guys to sleep with-"

Her boyfriend snorted.

"You're not even twenty-one yet,"

"Do you think that's going to stop me?"

"You're so weird," Percy murmured fondly. "But just making sure, you were kidding before right?"

Annabeth laughed while she inwardly smiled. She knew that would cheer him up.

"Of course,"

Percy nodded. "And you're going to come back to New York right?"

"You're going to miss me?" Annabeth laughed, poking his cheek playfully. The teen rolled his eyes in response.

"No," he huffed, trying to sound as if he disliked her, though his traitorous smile said otherwise. "Don't forget to IM every night, okay?"

Now it was Annabeth's turn to roll her eyes.

"Of course, Mother," Annabeth grinned, ignoring his incoherent mutterings. "But in all due seriousness Perce…"

Percy looked at her, slightly confused yet intrigued.

"… tell that neighbor of yours to tie up that dog's mouth," Annabeth finished, snickering slightly. When she wasn't spending her time at Olympus (she was used to waking up almost completely buried in blueprints), Annabeth was a frequent visitor to the Jackson household, and it was nice spending time there. The dog next door was a nuisance- he would place his droppings everywhere in the hallway, and his barking was nonstop throughout the night. She was kidding about the tying-up-the-dog-thing. Sure, he was annoying, but she didn't abuse pets.

"Sure," Percy grinned. His hands eventually found hers as they intertwined their fingers. The small endearing moment was interrupted by the sound of the intercom.

"Passengers for Flight 29, if you haven't already, please go to Gate 3. The plane is now ready for boarding. Please have your boarding pass and you passport ready for document checks. We wish you a pleasant flight, thank you,"

Annabeth's eyes dilated. Her breath hitched. Her vision became blurry. "Percy-"

"Shhh," Percy soothed, pulling the girl into a hug. "You remember our promise right?"

Annabeth sniffled a little. "Promise?"

"Yeah," he commented, pulling away and giving her a lopsided smile. "That you're coming back. You're not getting away from me that easily,"

Laughing weakly, Annabeth pressed a kiss against his cheek. "Promise,"

"Good," he held her hand tightly while the two got up from the seat. Percy frowned when he glanced at her. "Do you want me to hold that?"

"What?" Looking at him, Annabeth realized that she was holding the duffel bag that Percy refused to give to her earlier. "No, it's alright,"

"But you also have your little bag behind your back-"

"I'm a strong girl Percy," Annabeth winked. "I'm not a damsel in distress okay?"

"I'll prefer you that way," Percy laughed while she punched him in the shoulder. The pair started to walk towards the line of passengers that were boarding the plane to San Francisco. Taking out my passport and her boarding pass carefully, Annabeth waited silently for her turn with the flight attendant. Before she presented it to the woman, she felt a small tug on her wrist. Glancing at the attendant apologetically, Annabeth ran out of the line and was stunned when Percy quickly pulled her into a hug.

"Gods, I'm going to miss you so much," he murmured. "I'm willing to go on that plane right now,"

Annabeth smiled and his arms around her tightened.

"So you're going to give me a kiss now or-"

Annabeth didn't need to further explain for Percy to understand the message. His lips found hers almost immediately, despite the large height difference. This annoyed Annabeth greatly, although she secretly didn't mind. Her eyes fluttered shut while her slender arms wrapped around his neck. His protective arms were around her waist, and there the two were, in each other's arms.

Pulling away and breathing hard, Percy gave her a lopsided smile, though it didn't reach the eyes. "Love you,"

Annabeth's smile was tender though some tears welled up in her eyes. "You keep interrupting me today. But I love you too,"

And with those words and a tearful goodbye, Annabeth walked to the flight attendant, and handing her the boarding pass and passport, Annabeth walked towards the plane. She was going home. Back to San Francisco.

And that's a wrap. (: How was it? I hope it was better… xD I knew it was definitely longer than the previous one… This story was published on my birthday. :D I think that shows some sentimental value… :D I even added more dialogue and cute Percabeth fluff! I think.

Sorry if there are any grammatical errors or any parts that confuses you. I will try to fix up the mistakes as soon as I notice them, and I will try to elaborate through PMs if you guys are a bit puzzled. (:

So review, alert, and favorite?
