"I can't see a damn thing," whined Mai.

"You just noticed that, we've been down here for at least an hour, but anyway, make sure you keep on your toes," I explained. "Maybe darkness is a good thing, maybe these 'things' can't see in the dark. These sewers can be so unpredictable."

"Unpredictable my ass, nothing can get between us, were sisters," Mai blurted out.

"It's easy to get lost down here: with the rats, the mold, and the unusually odd smells, well, it can really disorient the mind, it's like a maze down here. And for god's sake, why did you come down here with me, you were supposed to stay with the others, you could get hurt and there's no way I can drag you out of this hole to safety."

"I wanted to help with whatever you're doing, and besides I can take care of myself, I'm not that little kid you used to know." We made our way through the dark, dank sewer. The smell was unbearable, and to top it off we heard strange sounds around every corner. There wasn't anything down there, at least not that we knew of.

"Wait," I whispered. "What was that." We both heard foot steps...

"Are you sure it's not you?" Mai questioned. The lamp we have is useless, it only lights up about a 5 feet radius.

"Stop moving." We heard them again, and again, and again. We didn't know where the sound was coming from. It could be in front of us, or behind us, but before we could both think, the creature revealed itself and took a huge chunk of fresh from Mai's neck. Blood sprayed in every direction. I reached into my pocket and grabbed my pocket knife.

"Jacqui!" Mai screamed. "Help me, please!" I went for the head. The foul creature fell to the ground like a rag dog. Mai collapsed into my arms, crying and unstable. "Go, it will be fine. Don't risk carrying me out, it's too dangerous, I'm already a goner." At this point we were both crying.

"No baby, its gonna be alright, I'm not leaving you in here to rot..."
