"Shh. It's ok. Mamas here."

Dis walked in circles, trying to comfort her wailing son. She turned and saw Fili, rubbing his eyes sleepily, standing in the doorway.

"Mama, why is Kiwi crying?" the five year old mumbled, half asleep.

Dis smiled at her firstborn and said, "He's tired. Would you like to hold him?"

Suddenly wide awake, Fili nodded eagerly, and held out his arms for his brother. Dis adjusted Kili in her arms and pointed to a rocking chair in the corner.

"Go sit down, and I'll give him to you."

Fili hurried over to the chair and sat, wiggling impatiently. Chuckling at her sons excitement, Dis carefully placed Kili in Fili's arms, adjusting his hands to support Kili's tiny head.

Fili grinned at his brother and spoke softly,"You can stop crying. Your big brother's here."

Kili's cries turned into whimpers, and soon stopped altogether. He snuggled himself against his big brother and sighed contentedly.

Fili looked up at his mother with huge eyes and whispered, "I made him stop crying! He just fell asleep." Dis smiled proudly at her son and said, "Well done. Now it's time for you to go to sleep."

"No!" Fili protested, tightening his grip on his brother. "I want to stay here, with Kiwi."

"Gentle, Fili." She said warningly, and the blonde child loosened his grip.

"I love being a big brother." Fili said with a yawn. The young dwarfs eyelids drooped, and his head nodded in exhaustion. Dis quietly removed Kili from his brothers arms, and he stirred slightly. She placed him in his crib, and scooped Fili up from the chair. Dìs returned Fili to his bedroom and tucked him in, smiling.
