Prologue
Life. What is life? To the monks, its energy and also a being. We are life, yet we are surrounded by it. But I know the truth. Life is power. A power I control, I can take life, give life, even create it. They know nothing of this and I want to keep it that way… for now. My name is Chandler, I'm fourteen and the by far the best airbender out there, besides Aang that is. I've spent my whole life in the northern air temple. Now I'm leaving to find my destiny and perhaps the answer to my power. It's time to go. No goodbyes or an explanation, that's how it has to be. Lucky I never had many friends, and my family disowned me. I guess I am leaving because of that too, no one would be my friend because I was too powerful and my family was scared of me.
"Chandler? What are you doing?" Uh-oh. It's Cindy, the only person who ever talks to me, so she could be a friend, what am I going to tell her?
"Cindy, hey, I… I can't lie to you. I'm leaving…for good." Surprisingly she isn't shocked or angry in fact, she's quite the opposite.
"If it's what you think is best," She gives me hug and a kiss on the cheek, "you always were special, I'll tell the monks in the morning, you go do what you need to."
With that she walked off, she always was a good friend (Yeah definitely a friend) over the years. I turn to the right and head down the corridor and out to a bridge commonly used to take off on a glider. I take out mine (pine staff with three sets of wings, the biggest are black, the next red, the smallest white) open it and jump off the side and headed for my first destination.
Author Note: Okay guys, this is the start of my first shot at an Avatar:TLAB story. I'm uploading the prologue now, and I'm going to wait for some feedback before I continue to write/upload. Also, from this point on the story will be in third person, this part is 1st person because I wrote it awhile back.
