As Callie walked down the halls she took out her cellphone and texted Bailey, once the text was sent Callie kept walking.
'Walk tall, Torres.'
Taking a deep breath and letting it slip out as she tried to compose herself she found she couldn't, tears continued to slip freely. She had heard Arizona yelling for her.
'Callie!'
'Calliope!'
She had been wanting to hear that for so long; Calliope but it didn't make her heart soar to the moon like it used to instead it drove deep into her heart like a steak to a vampire. Walking she ignored the looked of fellow hospital staff that stopped midsentence or midstride as she walked past, she heard someone trying to run behind her off in the distance.
"Callie! Please, talk to me!" Arizona yelled as she turned the corner and saw Callie but she continued to ignore her wife, coming towards the T in the hallway she saw Bailey come around the corner with Cristina and Sofia snuggled in her arms. Glancing out a window she saw the storm had passed outside finally, taking another deep breath she stopped in front of the two women and took ahold of Sofia.
"Callie, please listen to me! Callie?" The last part came out as a question.
Derek, Cristina, Bailey, Karev, Jo, April and Lauren Boswell looked on at what was happening. Callie took another deep breath and started to walk away.
"Momma!" Sofia yelled as she saw Arizona a happy smile on her face, as Arizona looked on she knew what was happening.
"No, Callie no! You can't do this! Sofia!" Arizona yelled as she tried to catch up, Sofia saw the tears in her momma's eyes and started to cry.
"Momma!" Arizona cried harder as she saw Callie walking down the stairs to get to the lobby and out the doors.
"Sofia! Callie, please I'm sorry please!" Arizona started begging at the top of the stairs, shaking her head Callie walked her head held high.
'Walk tall, Torres.'
And that is what Callie did she walked tall with her daughter in her arms and her future ahead of her, and her past screaming behind her. She was walking tall and she wasn't going to allow anyone to bring her down again, outside the sun started shinning looking up Callie saw birds fly past chirping with excitement. Looking across the street at her apartment she thought about walking to it but instead she hailed down a cab and got in.
"Airport please." Callie replied as she slammed the door and buckled her and Sofia up.
"Business or pleasure?" The cabby asked with a smile.
"A new life." Callie looked up in the mirror so her eyes landed on the cabby, the Jamaican man with light brown skin nodded his head in understanding. Looking out the window she saw in the passenger side mirror Arizona standing outside the hospital looking defeated, looking away from the mirror Callie looked straight ahead.
"Walk tall, Torres." Looking down at Sofia she whispered Mark's words and smiled gently, Sofia had a sad look on her face that Callie instantly kissed and nuzzled away.
"Mami needs to catch her breath for a little while baby girl maybe one day we can come back but right now it is too painful."
