So this happened. Yeah, I hope you enjoy reading.

"When you held it, did you see anything?" May just nodded.

"Then, how? How did you hold all three?" Ward asked.

"'Cause I see it every day." She walked away, not trusting herself anymore in another person's company. She needed to be alone.

May found herself in an alleyway, next to an abandoned apartment complex, and she could just feel herself falling apart. It was crawling back, much more vivid than her memories before. It was like she was back there again. She was experiencing it over and over in her head. And she hated it. She couldn't take it. May screamed, for the first time after it happened, she let herself fall apart. The rage that the Berserker staff caused making itself known. But with her, rage always has a companion…grief. The tears streamed down her face, she could hear herself sob because of the pain. May put her face in her hands, just wanting the images to leave, and the voices to fade.

Coulson followed her. After his talk with the Asgardian he needed to make sure May was okay, considering Ward went off the rails when he held only one piece of the staff. May held three. She must have been deep in thought because she didn't even look over her shoulder when he was tailing her, or looked up when he stood next to her.

"May…" Coulson called her name, when he saw her with her back against the wall, face buried in her hands, knees close to her chest.

May just looked up at him, at Phil, with tears still streaming down her face. But then she saw flashbacks of that day, with the younger version of herself and Coulson, then the images of Bahrain followed. Coulson getting injured, her telling him that she'll fix the problem, kissing him like she knew it might be their last, and his pained expression when he saw her exit the warehouse with her own broken expression.

"Phil…" She said it in a whisper, barely audible, but Coulson was at her side in a second and just held her while she cried. He let his own tears out, some dropping on May's cheek, which caused her to look up at him. She wiped his tears, her eyes asking him why he too shed tears.

"I remember that day too. I hate myself because I wasn't able to go with you, I let you go. It's my fault. It's my fault." Coulson has felt this way ever since that night in Bahrain, where he lost the love of his life.

"Don't you dare blame yourself for what happened Philip!" May said, rage clear in her voice, and she hated herself for it. She only ever called him Philip when she was angry.

"I'm sorry." May said, as she pulled away from Coulson's embrace.

"No." Coulson pulled her back and just held her. "Don't go Mel." May felt herself relax in his arms. Being with him gave her a sense of peace.

"We should get back to the team, they'll start wondering about where we went." May pulled away from the embrace, but stayed in his arms.

"I already sent them to the hotel." Coulson said, as he pressed her forehead against hers. May gave in to her impulse and closed the distance between them, and kissed him. Coulson expected it, but he was still very much surprised at May's actions, and the intensity of the kiss. They both pulled away after a few minutes and they both needed to catch their breaths.

"Stay with me tonight." May said after a few seconds, her arms still around his neck, his arms around her waist.

"Of course." With that closed the distance between them once more.

I promised myself I wouldn't post other fics, until I finished the other ones. But I couldn't help myself, and this is just a one-shot anyway so it's cool. Reviews please :)
