The Xerxes youth is so excited to partake in the ritual to make the King that the Truth can feel his desires even before the circle is activated. Unaware of the treachery planned by the Homunculus, Hohenheim is just so excited to be a part of history and witness the birth of a legend that his desires call forth the gate and he sees everything. Truth reaches out and takes his arrogance, his pride, his overwhelming desire to apart of history and lets pass back into the desolate wasteland that once Xerxes.

The would-be-mother is horrified and distraught at the passing of her child. Performing the forbidden act is an act of feirce love and desire to see her baby live. To see her child breathe, walk, play, and live a life with her and her husband. Truth is cruel and Izumi's toll is her internal organs, rendering the woman to be both constantly ill, and completely incapable of ever becoming pregnant.

The brothers who lost their mother, who they loved fiercely, are so heartbroken that they seek to bring her back. The anger in their hearts as to what they consider an injustice brings brightly and fuels their overwhelming to bring her back. Their desire for the parent they know loves them fiercely, who was always there to take care of them and make them smile and laugh when things are tough. Truth is merciless and while the E the older boy loses a leg, Al the other, his whole body because his desire for his mother is so much stronger. When the elder sacrifices his arm to save his brother's soul, Truth is impressed and knows that it one day see Edward Elric once more.

The alchemist who didn't perform human transmuted enters the realm of Truth for two reasons. He was inside the circle when it activated, thus tying him to truth, and that his desire to save Riza Hawkeye is still burns within him, despite being cooled off by Hawkeye herself. The Truth remembers the desperation and the pain, and the overwhelming desire for her to be safe because Roy couldn't lose her, and so it takes his eyesight for entering the realm of truth.


Author's Note: Inspired by chapter 59 of Ficlet Parade by Evil Little Dog, which created my head canon on your desires opening the gate, instead of the act of human transmutation itself. Hence why Roy had to pay a toll, even though he didn't perform the act itself and I included a toll for Hohenheim to fit with the theme since canon hasn't mentioned what toll, if any he had to pay.
