My name is Ariana Emily Fields, though most people call me Aria. I'm 17 years old. I'm being forced to move out to forks to live with my grandparents, both my parents were in a terrible skiing accident a few months ago; needless to say neither of them made it out alive. I suppose I haven't been the same since, people say I'm not as energetic and lively as I used to be, but I mean seriously, who can blame me? Well, anyway; I'm moving out to forks, yay! Not.
Anyway, I'm sitting in my car right now, on my way to school, my first day to be exact. I pulled my small car into one of the few empty spaces in the school parking lot, I hopped out of the car, shivering slightly in the cold January air, I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder. I walked slowly across the parking lot, careful to not slip on the ice. When I finally reached the school building, I pushed open the large wooden doors, pausing a moment to look around the busy hallway. I peered above the heads, looking at the labels above every room, finally finding the office. I let out a sigh of relief and walked over. I walked through the glass door and over to a nice women, who looked to be about forty.
"Hello, I'm Ariana, the new student?" I said, trying to be friendly. The women nodded and turned, going through a drawer of papers. She finally found what she was looking for.
"Here you are dear, your schedule and a map…oh and your locker combination." She said, nodding. I took the papers with a smile, nodding in turn as I walked back out into the hallway. I looked around and finally found my locker, dropping off some of my books and such in my locker before heading off to homeroom.
The rest of the day was a busy blur, I rushed from class to class, often late because I couldn't figure out which way I was supposed to go, the map wasn't very helpful. At the end of the day I walked back out to my car, sliding in to the leather seats and jamming my keys in the ignition, though when my car didn't start, I tried again…and again, and again. I finally sighed and rolled my eyes, opening my door and stepping outside. I walked around to the front of my car, opening the top and peering in, though sadly I knew nothing about cars…though I'm guessing when there's a spark and smoke from the engine that isn't good. Of course it isn't, I'm not that stupid. I shook my head and looked around, wrapping my arms around my torso, rubbing my arms and shivering, it was freezing and it was beginning to snow…great. I saw some guys who looked about my age who were standing by a car on the other side of the lot, one of them, a tall, muscular, dark skinned one caught my attention. He didn't go to our school, he must be from the reservation. Our eyes met for a second, and he must of seen how bad my car was because he sad something to his friends and they all looked at me as he started to walk over.
"Need some help?" He asked, smiling. Though the way he looked at me wasn't normal, it was like he was in love with me or something. I just shook it off and nodded.
"Yeah…I think my car broke down." I said, shrugging helplessly. He chuckled as he walked over to my car, shaking his head.
"Well, you got that right…you won't get this thing going again," He said, looking back at me, "I could give you a ride though…I'm Jacob by the way." He said, holding out a hand. I reached out to shake his hand, nodding. "A ride? That would be great…I'm Aria." I replied, giving him a weak smile.
