A/N: Written for Yuki Yuna is a Bingo (flash), #156 – day at the beach.

is the beach better than a hotspring?

Their little outing at the beach was far nicer than the time at the hotsprings, even if it wasn't an all-expense paid trip this time round.

Maybe it was because they weren't supporting doubts and disabilities this time round. Maybe it was because this time everything was off their chests and they were fairly confident Taisha wouldn't send them into battle again (since they'd seen it almost blow up in their faces and all that). Or maybe it was simply because it wasn't an all-expense paid trip and therefore it felt like a fun trip out with friends should feel line.

Either that or they'd simply burnt out from everything and it simply didn't matter if they were called upon to fight anymore, if nothing changed. But that wasn't the truth. It still dug at them, in the corner of their minds, wondering what they'd do, what decisions they'd make, whether they'd enter the Mankai form again if it came to that… So it wasn't that. They couldn't simply forget about it all.

Maybe, then, it was just their gut feeling saying they won't be called upon again. Or maybe it's because they've got no visible wounds this time so they can smile and it's not fake.

Or maybe they've just gotten better at faking their smiles when, in the back of their minds, they waited for the other shoe to drop again.
