Hey guys. I don't have time for a complications chapter right now, but I've been getting really into Air Gear lately, so I thought I'd make a quick one-shot.
Disclaimed: I don't own Air Gear
'He has his wings,' Ringo thought, watching Ikki soar above her, jumping the roofs of the city with his ATs while she stood, stuck to the ground, but still with him. 'He's like a bird now. Flying above… just out of reach…'
"Hey Ringo, you sure you don't want to join me?" Ikki asked, taking a short break.
"Oh no," Ringo smiled. "I'm fine here." And he took off again; as he did she reached out and touched his hand before it was too far. 'Like a bird, he can fly… but he still comes down to see the rest of us every now and then.'
"Nice one little sparrow!" Simca arrived, following Ikki with her own ATs.
"Oh man, what's she doing here now?" Ringo said, annoyed.
Simca dropped down next to Ringo to watch Ikki. "I told you out Little Crow would be king of the skies," she said.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever."
"It must feel lonely when he's so high up and you're left down here like a rodent." Simca brushed her pink hair away from her face.
"Did you just call me a rodent!" Ringo yell. She crossed her arms. "Well actually, I don't feel all that lonely."
"And why's that?"
"Because, even though I choose to stay down here while you and the others fly with him, I know he can fly much higher than any of you. And then he's gong to come back down to earth to rest." She turned to Simca and smiled.
"Yes, but just because neither of us can reach him doesn't mean he'll choose you," Simca laughed. "Wouldn't he prefer someone who can fly almost as high as he can? And being the prettier one couldn't hurt either," she bragged, then took off again, back to the skies with Ikki.
'Just because I can't fly with him doesn't me he doesn't like me… right?' Ringo thought. 'Oh who am I kidding. He's like her more since day one.' She started heading back home, leaving the two birds to their sky. 'Maybe he's better off with out me… Maybe I'm just holding him to the ground'.
She walked over the bridge, remembering how the moon could shine all the way to the depths of the water bellow; remembering many things out the depths of the water. Looking at her reflection, deep in the water; distorted, and confused.
"I… feel like I'm drowning now…"
Suddenly another reflection appeared next to hers; standing with heart the bottom of the waters, yet with the sky as their background. The was water rippling her tears to his eyes.
"Ikki!" she said, startled.
"Hey Ringo, what are you doing all the way over here?" he asked.
"I was um… heading home. Simca was there, so I thought you were hanging out with her."
"Nah. I noticed you left and it was like the wind stopped blowing. It's not as fun ATing when I can't show off," he joked. Ringo let a laugh out. "So anyway, I was wondering if you wanted to go out for dinner."
"Like a date! Oh my gosh yes! –Err… um sure, yeah…" 'Well that was smooth.'
"A date?" Ikki asked. "No, I was just thinking it's past dinner time so the others already ate all the meat… And I want steak, damn it!"
"Okay, calm down Ikki," Ringo giggled. "Let's go see if we can find a place that's still open." They began walking. She noticed his free arm next to her and took it gently in her arms next to her head, like the wind's breeze. Ikki smiled. 'Well I guess we aren't exactly going be a couple any time soon… but this is nice.'
Not too bad I don't think. A little short but I didn't expect to get any writing done 'till the semester was over anyway. And I'm proud of myself for resisting the urge to add fan service with Simca XD. Anyway, that's what I have for tonight. Bye.
