She truly was an angel, Bobby Goren mused silently as he looked at the photos sitting on his bookshelf. The one of the Christmas office party held the place of honour. It was his favourite because his partner was laughing. It was one of the few moments that had been captured that he had actually enjoyed as was shown by his smile. He looked at the others. The day that Logan had brought a camera to work after a particularly hard case to try and get people to cheer up. Bobby smiled and shook his head as he remembered that day. He suspected that Logan had gotten so sick of his partner rolling her eyes every time he tried to get a photo of her that he ended up taking one anyway. It had ended in Bobby having to break up the two and then giving Alex possession of the camera. He brushed his knuckles over the photo. Alex had convinced their boss to stop hiding in his office and then convinced one of the uniforms to take a photo of the team. She was grinning in triumph even as the photo was taken. Mike had had copies of that photo made then everyone received one. He looked at the next one along. Alex's birthday. She had been annoyed that everyone had found out but there had been no cases that day so she had relaxed more and more as it progressed. He turned away, unwilling to remember so many good moments when the one that he had been waiting for, for more years than he cared to count still had to happen. Although, when he was honest with himself, he doubted that it would ever happen. Bobby took another swig of the beer that he was drinking. He had long since accepted that he was in love with his partner but he was too much of a gentleman to mention it to her. Oh well. At least they were together in his dreams. As he drifted off that night his last coherent thought was 'She's my angel and my savior'

Half way across New York Alex Eames was trying to forget her handsome and mysterious partner. She eventually gave up trying to sleep and instead stood and walked out to her living room where all but one of her photos of Bobby resided. She looked at them and remembered silently before walking back into her bedroom and laying back down on her bed. She turned her head to the side to view the only photo that she had managed to talk him into posing for by himself. She had managed to talk him into it for the 'anniversary' of their partnership, saying that if he had it taken then she'd forgive him for all the times when he's half scared her to death.

"Goodnight Bobby," she whispered before falling asleep.

The next morning at work Alex had just sat down when Bobby brought her her coffee. She smiled gratefully at him but as she took a sip she thought 'Here we go again'

Bobby was grateful for her smile yet he still thought to himself 'Here we go' before both of their thoughts were interrupted by their captain yelling out

"Goren. Eames. My office." Unaware that their thoughts were almost identical Robert Goren and Alexandra Eames walked into their captains office to begin yet another day.
