Her mona lisa smile

Disclaimer:I don't own harry potter

Harry potter ran as if his life counted on it though it did as he was late for potions class and it was a double class as well. For the third time his life was yet again threatened though at least he was aware of it this time around. He loved Hogwarts' and despite the times he had been nearly killed it filled him with a warm feeling that was decidedly absent as he waited for the stairs to and running to a shortcut that he found book bag in hand collided with a slow moving object and they fell into a tangled mess. His mind still on the fact he was late for Snape's class he picked himself up and paused. He couldn't just run someone down and not apologize even if the Potions professor was going to probably give him a detention.

However by the time he turned around to help her she was already starting to get up. He moved to help her and looking at her Hogwarts robe saw the raven on her Hogwarts crest and as his hand reached out she looked up. Her pale skin complimented her silver eyes and surprised look on her face made him feel slightly guilty. He smiled and she gave him a small smile of her own. It was then he noticed the book bag that her books were scattered. He quickly moved to pick them and he didn't notice her pick up the rest of her belongings so when they reached the same book their hands touched. He pulled back as she calmly picked it up and put it in the bag and held it out.

"Sorry about that. I didn't see you there. I hope you're not hurt" he said as he put them in.

"Your name is Harry Potter. You should hurry to class or you'll be very late" she said smiling dreamily.

He hesitated, "I'm already late for Snape's class. A few minutes won't make the punishment any worst" he said as he picked up his own bag.

"My name is Luna Lovegood, it's nice to finally meet you." she said.

"You too, I suppose. I should really get going since you're okay." he said as he started to frown.

"Thank you for helping me gather my things," she said still smiling.

"It was no problem. I noticed you were missing your Potions text book, don't have that class today?" he asked.

"I do but it seems to have gone missing." she said as she looked at the floor.

"Have mine, I think I threw everything concerning potions since it's a double block. That includes my second year text." he said fishing it out.

She looked up in surprise and accepting it she gave him a large smile, "Thank you. I couldn't have gone to class without it."

He looked at her in surprise at how the smile lit up her face and her entire countenance and presence brightened the corridor. He blushed and returned it her enthusiasm catching. He nodded and they separated to go to their different directions to get to class after an awkward goodbye. He couldn't believe how late he was, what trouble he'd get from Snape, knew how Hermione was going to lecture him, and still wanted to privately deck Ron for not waking him up as his stomach grumbled. Reaching the door and opening it he faced the eyes of his classmates and the livid and dour Potions professor as Snape went on a short but very acidic and spiteful rant before removing points and assigning three detentions. He kept his head down and when he sat beside Ron he looked up thinking about the Mona Lisa smile.

"What's up with you, mate? You just got detention with Snape for three nights and you're smiling!" Ron whispered as Snape was on the praising Malfoy's potion while he was preparing the station.

"It's nothing, Ron, why didn't you wake me up?" he hissed his voice low and sounding furious.

"I woke up late and was hungry," Ron said shrugging slightly.
