Author's Note: This story is predominately based off the prequel book as opposed to the game, but still fits within the game's universe. Also, some of the writing here is a combination/mixture of scenes from the book "Brute Force: Betrayals" by Dean Wesley Smith, that I re-wrote and added onto to fit in with my story-line.

Disclaimer: I Don't Own Brute Force, or any of Dean Wesley Smith's works.

Hawk tapped her fingers on the large mahogany desk in the center of Commander Bratton's office, impatiently waiting for the new member of her team to arrive.

Little did she know, she wouldn't have long.

Without warning, the office door on the far side of the room flung open, and a very large, bulky man with an even larger bag of weapons entered.

He had dark chopped hair, and a square jaw, giving him the appearance of a moving block.

But something about this man told Hawk that he was much more than just a block with a bag of weapons.

His eyes told her there were brains in that bulk, and the catlike way he moved told her he could do much more than just stomp around.

His appearance was so remarkable that Hawk soon found herself staring.

Apparently the man felt her gaze, because his brown eyes flickered to her green ones, and he smiled, causing Hawk to flinch in surprise.

Still, she managed to return his smile with one as equally friendly, and extended a hand out for him to shake when he reached her side of the room.

The man paused to set his bag down on the floor, and accepted the hand she offered him.

His large hand engulfed hers with a surprisingly gentle touch, though she had no doubt that a normal squeeze from his fist could've crushed her small bones without a problem.

"Hawk..." She introduced herself cautiously.

"Tex," The man replied with a nod. "I think me and you will get along just fine."

Hawk smirked, shaking a few fiery red strands of hair out of her face.

She couldn't guarantee that they'd get along, but she could sure bet that their time spent together would be interesting.

"Same here."
