My Saturnine Night

Existance in place of life,

lead in place of gold.

I hold a flame in place of a soul.

It sparked into life a body,

brough into being a mind.

But a soul is the absent treasure.

Nature spurns me.

Humanity would sooner have me dead.

Torment looms in the distance.

This fire drives me.

It pushes me further along my path.

My pilgrimage will be complete.

I will be redeemed.

Lead to gold.

Fire to a soul.

Like a blackened sea,

no surface in sight.

I stumble deeper into my Saturnine Night.

And I know the dawn cannot be far.
