~ Ron ~

(a tribute)

Dedicated to my friend Laura Haldane (Transcendental Starlight), who told me, "I love Ron just because he is so underappreciated."

Fiery, charming,

Gangly-legged,

Humorous Ron.

Poor unsuspecting,

Freckly,

Caught-

Oh dear Ron,

Always caught.

Oh Ron,

Stuck in the midst of,

An unfathomably tough,

Horrible riddle.

Ron, you were born-

Middle key,

And really your pitch,

Was probably a bad one.

Your tall frame,

Was often topped,

For,

Weasely was your last name.

Middle bag of groceries,

A flour brand of many-

'HECKLEWINKLE.'

Oh, Ron,

Part of the Golden Trio,

The amazing splendor,

In times of the black thunder.

You had Ron,

The brightest hair,

In the circle.

You hadn't any skill really,

For in spite of your status,

You still ranked,

In the middle.

Caught between the lair Ron,

And just beneath the-

Beautiful free air,

You always just,

Hung with us.

Nothing to offer. Nothing to gain by your presence.

Yet, in spite of all your-

Shall we say er- plain tastes,

Ron,

We always loved you.

You were truly one of the best of us,

Because you taught us,

What normal is . . .

Perhaps it is still not much,

But, Ron,

We love your hair,

We love your freckles,

And, Ron-

We know that you,

Are still with us,

Because really-

We are always just pretending,

For most of us,

Much as I hate to say it,

Are sadly normal people.

Thank you, Ron.
