Cold
She was so tired. So tired. This is hell. She didn't want to move. Walk. Breathe. Exist Well maybe not that… She grimaced, staggering to her bed. She sat. She tried to shrug off her coat. She gave up and flopped down. Her lids closed. But she didn't want to sleep.
"Aaah!!" Something cold, something icy, something slightly wet.
"Why are you so hot?" she turned her head, the only thing not unbearably stiff. She realized she was soaking. Sweat? Yes but it was almost like…
"What? What is… What?" She was looking at the silhouette sitting beside her.
"You really should close your window. It was cloudy all day." It was getting easier to see. BOOM! Lightening illuminated a silver head turned away from her, looking out the window.
"Wha-" the words stuck in her mouth as that cold found her again, tracing her jaw line, caressing her cheek, idly wandering about her neck. She shivered, looking at the ceiling, scared to death. Only a few things really frightened her, and Hatake Kakashi was one of them. She swallowed.
"Hmm… You're very hot. You may have a fever. Are you sick? You should tell peo-"
"I'm not sick," she barked. She could see now. That's why she was looking at the ceiling. What was he doing with her hair?
"Why are you so damn cold?"
"Hmm? Oh," she could hardly believe he was- "It's just a family thing. It keeps me awake sometimes. Is that the same with you?" He strayed dangerously low from her neck…
"No it's not. It was your darn freezing hands that woke me up." This was a partial lie. She woke up all the time because of the heat. She hardly got to sleep because of the heat. And what came with it. She barely… What is he doing? She had just braced herself for what was to come after… well, what he was sure to… well, yes, but he had absentmindedly taken a wide curve to her shoulder where he proceeded to knead with a single frigid finger, a muscle that had been sore, one she couldn't find. How did he know? She was wet, she was hot, she was uncomfortable, she was tired, and she was hot, but she almost forgot all this as he massaged her aching shoulder, almost fell asleep, but… "Would you not lead me on like that?" He looked at her quizzically.
"Lead you on?"
"Yes, you were… you… rrragh." She glared at him exasperatedly. He… "Where's your mask?" Kakashi laughed quietly.
"I don't wear it when I sleep, Anko. Would you?"
"Well no- well, well-"
"It's very lonely, isn't it?" What? He's so confusing. What is he- "Being awake at night, I mean." She understood now. He touched her forehead.
"Sometimes, " she said seriously, " not always." He was looking away again. "Are you staying?"
"Hm?"
"Stay with me. Stay here. With me." She gasped as he ran his hand down her torso to hold hers as he lay down. She wasn't hot anymore. She wasn't going to be.
"I could do that." I could almost fall asleep now… she mused. But she didn't want to sleep.
