Hiya! This is just something that was in my head, it's not great but I appreciate you reading it. Birds is a song by Kate Nash and it's, unironically speaking, awesome :).
I don't own Chuck.
Birds
They were sitting on the floor, backs against the bed, in a companionable silence. Sarah glanced over at Chuck and saw he was looking at her, with an odd look in his eye. He would open his mouth to speak then, shaking his head, shut it again. After watching him repeat the process a few times she decided he needed a little push.
Smiling ever-so-slightly she said, "Come on boy; tell me what you're thinking, now. Don't be shy."
He felt himself blushing and was extremely grateful for the dim lighting. He cleared his throat.
"Alright, I'll try." He paused, not knowing how to go on, "All the stars up in the sky, and the leaves in the trees. All the broken bits that make you trip up and the grassy bits in between," he paused again, inwardly cursing his awkward start. "All the matter in the world, that's how much I like you."
There was a brief silence while she struggled to understand. Eventually, Sarah took a deep, shaky breath and she said,
"What?"
He was stunned. He had been working up the courage to speak for at least twenty minutes, and while he knew it hadn't been the smoothest of deliveries, he thought what he had said was reasonably understandable.
With a tiny sigh he said, "Let me try and explain again."
He turned to her, smiled that smile and gave his eyebrows a little wiggle, for good measure. She looked up at him, the corners of her mouth threatening to break into a smile of their own. Chuck took another breathe and said,
"Birds can fly so high and they can shit on your head. They can almost fly into your eye and make you feel so scared. But when you look at them and see that they're beautiful," he paused, "That's how I feel about you."
In that moment, staring into those warm, smiling eyes, she knew what she needed to do. He had given her the opening she had needed to finally tell him how she felt, she may not have been using her own words, but for the time being, it would do.
"Thanks. I like you too."
"Cool."
A/N: Just felt I should explain myself, the spoken words are the lyrics to Birds. I think this stems from me desperately wanting a goodlooking dude to quote song to me. Anyway, I thought it might be something Chuck might do...Thanks again :)
