Bugs and a Phone Call
The phone rang, and Grissom reached for it groggily. "H'lo?" he asked sleepily.
"Gil," Brass said, much too cheerful for Grissom's taste. "Catherine, Nicky, and Warrick have a body," he informed him.
"So?" Grissom asked, getting annoyed.
"So it's got bugs," Brass sing-songed. "So get your butt out of bed and bring it here."
Leaning back on the pillows, Grissom sighed. "Alright. I'm coming. Give me an hour."
"Want me to call Sara?" Brass asked.
"What? No! No… I'll call her, don't worry."
"Alright," Brass said, moving to hang up. "Call her and meet us here."
He gave Grissom the crime scene information before Grissom said, "Will do," and hung up, ending the call.
He smiled as he felt a woman's fingers in his hair, drawing lazy circles at the base of his neck. "Hey babe," she said, her eyes still closed. "Who was on the phone?"
"Good morning to you too, honey," he answered, brushing his lips against her cheek. "That was Brass."
Sara finally opened her eyes. "Brass? What does Swing need now?"
"They need me," Grissom answered, running a hand through her curly hair.
"But I need you," Sara countered, giving him a sleepy smile. "What do they need you for?"
"Bugs."
"Really?" Sara sat up, all traces of sleep gone. "Am I allowed to come?"
Kissing her lightly, he slid out of their bed. "Of course. Brass invited you along."
Grinning now, Sara hopped out of bed and headed to the shower. "Give me five minutes," was all she said.
Watching her retreating form, Grissom couldn't keep the smile from forming. Sara Sidle, the woman he loved, was always willing to do anything for him, even if it meant tagging along on his numerous bug adventures.
He wasn't quite certain, but he thought that Sara had finally developed a soft spot for the creepy-crawlies, whether it was because of his love for them, or if she'd really learned to love them by herself, he wasn't sure. But it didn't matter.
Sara stepped out of the shower five minutes later, just as she had promised. Grissom waited until she had towel-dried her hair before pulling her into his arms. "I love you Sara," he said, placing a kiss in her hair.
"I know," she said, smiling. "And I love you too, Gil." Pulling away from his embrace, she headed to the door, picking up his Denali's car keys along the way. "Now come on. Let's go catch some of those bugs you love so much."
Grissom grinned. Of course I love the bugs…but I love Sara more… Feeling her intense brown stare on him, he turned to her. "Sorry honey. I'm coming."
She swatted his arm as he walked by her, but just as quickly laced her fingers through his as they walked to the car.
"Bug-catching time," she teased.
"Bug-catching time," he confirmed, giving her hand one last squeeze before letting go to get in the car. "Let's go."
Sara laughed lightly and got in on the passenger's side, ready to follow the man she loved anywhere.
