Chapter 1.

It's been two years since the collapse of the temple of the magi. The city is finally starting to rebuild after the devastating happenings that day. Small shops have begun sprouting about the outside of the rubble. Meek looking huts are being built in order to house the homeless townspeople of the once elaborate city. Two years have past, but no matter what they did to rebuild, they held the same fear. What if it happens again?
No one went near the rubble. Children who wandered off to play were quickly reprimanded and told not to go near the pile of rocks under penalty of a foodless dinner. Every night while the people rest in their huts, you could see a faint glow come out of the cracks of the rocks. No one, not even the bravest of the townspeople would dare to investigate. They have gone through enough these past years. They dared not to cause themselves any more anguish.
The vrkyl had been spreading terror for the past few years now. They emerged from the temple only days after the disaster. Not long after they had been plundering towns and murdering civilians. There was no inclination as to why they did it or how they could have survived the blast. But it didn't matter. Every city closed their doors. No one was allowed in. No one was allowed out. Everyday was a siege. The guards would watch from their towers and the townspeople would stay indoors.
"We have plenty of time to get there ma'." Said a young boy in about his twenties.
"I know I know but Pa' wont wait forever."
"Your little legs can't take this kind of beating. Slow down and relax a bit. I'm sure Pa' will be ok by him- self for a while longer."
"Then you don't know your fath-"
She gasped and clutched at her chest as if she were having a heart attack. There stood in front of her a man she knew when he was alive and more importantly a man she knew when he was dead. Shakur stood there watching the two standing in shock and horror. Too scared to move both just stood, watching, waiting.
Shakur leaped at the woman with a knife made of bone, intending to end the woman's life while sustaining his own. Just then a dark figure knocked Shakur back with a swipe of his hand. The figure seemed to almost fly through the air rather than walk. Shakur lay on the ground for about the time it takes for a heartbeat when he regained composure and attacked the figure. The figure disappeared only to reappear behind him knocking Shakur down with a quickly executed punch. You could see under Shakur the stone that had been there had now formed a crater around Shakur.
The figure raised his hands and spoke a language that none could understand. A black globe surrounded himself and Shakur. And as fast as they were appeared they were both gone.
Outside the cities gates the figure and Shakur stood facing one another.
"Who – ", He stood up. "Who are you?"
"Gareth." The figured smiled and disappeared. Shakur was left standing in the middle of an open field about ten miles outside the cities gates. He stood in shock, then started for the hike back to the castle gates.
