This a slice of life for Jim, just to bear in mind, and it is also set in the past. Also, I do not own any of the characters and settings. If you want more please comment (possibly w/ideas). I could have added more or had something more exciting, but I kind of liked it this way. Anyways enough of the author's silly notes...

Jim woke up and thought that this will be the day Pam and him will end up together. That was his thought everyday in the few seconds of grogginess before everything became clear. Today it was intensified by a dream he just had that included a house with a nice green lawn and kids running around it, among other things. He mused on this as the dream slowly slipped away from memory and the the heavy realization fell upon him.

Yes, it hurt, however, he couldn't spend time in his bed thinking all this through because he had to go to work. Going to the bathroom, getting dressed, eating breakfast was by this time a routine. On the drive into work he turned on the music drowning out his thoughts from the morning. Though, as soon as he made the turn on to the street where his office was he knew he had to face the day ahead of him with Pam there.

Walking across the parking lot he wondered why he tortured himself day in and day out. It didn't make sense as it would be a lot easier to resist the temptation if he was someplace else. In instances like this never would he have her, and he someday would have to face this fact of being alone. Why not do it sooner than later? He opened the doors of the building un-decidedly weighing the options, and as soon as he got in the door he saw Pam.

She waved and said, "Hi Jim!" and seeing that face his thought of leaving completely erased from his mind, though the feeling still lingered. He couldn't help but smile as he crouched over her desk to discuss what they might do to Dwight that day or any other random thing that passed through their minds.

The day wore on like it did always partially doing work, other parts pranking, and the undoubted interruption(s) from Michael Scott. The chit chat with Pam was ever pleasant and playful and continued to be through the day. He could see in her face that she thought no more than friendship between him and it pained him. But then there were those time she glance up in to his eyes and he thought maybe there was a chance. As calm as he looked on the outside his insides were tearing in two different directions.

There were many days where he partially hoped that Pam's fiance' had somehow screwed up to the point where Pam couldn't take it anymore with Jim easily accessible for consoling. Though he never heard any phone calls, stories, or witnessed any barging in from that guy that was bad enough to be able to do it. This day wasn't any different, and Jim had lived through a work day once more.

Jim and Pam walked out with each other that night still talking. When they had reached her car she turned around thoughtfully and said, "You know Jim, you make the day worth being here." A coy smile appeared on her face, and he knew with that smile he couldn't stop his heart. It was worth it to spend what time he had with her just to see that smiling face, anticipating what was she going to say next. He was amazed at one little smile could do and the few words that flowed from her mouth.

"Thanks, Pam," Jim replied, "I feel the same about you."
