I spotted her from across the terminal. Her dark hair was longer than I have ever seen it, stopping just a little below her shoulders. She glanced around until she caught my eye. I knew it was pointless yelling out her name in the crowded room. Her mouth pulled into a classic Emily smile, but one I hadn't seen since before Doyle. That was when I realized letting her go was a good idea. I realized London had let her let go of the painful past. They say if you love someone, let them go and if they come back they're yours right? Wait, I wondered; since when had I thought Emily was my Emily? That was weird...

Emily had planned coming back two months earlier but I asked her to wait. Penelope's birthday was three months and she missed Emily just as much as I did, or very close. I Skyped Emily the most, with Penelope a close second. We planned on telling Penelope that Emily couldn't make it back home, but when it was time for Pen to open her gift from me, Emily would walk inside. I knew it would b mainly for Pen, but it was a gift for the entire team to see Emily again. It had been a long year with out her. I knew everyone just wanted to see her again. Emily is the one everyone talks to, when they need a shoulder to lean on. It had been a stressful year for our team. Both Reid and Rossi had lost loved ones , and everyone had at least one bad case.

She managed her way through the crowd and pulled me into a hug; the kind of hug that makes you wonder if it meant something more. Her hair was soft against my cheek. I took her huge black suitcase and I offered to take her carry-on but being Emily; she took back the suitcase and continued to hold onto her carry-on.

"I hope you managed with out me, Derek. I bet you've been getting your butt kicked without our Saturday training sessions." Emily laughed bumping my arm.

"Oh I've been fine but I know you've missed my Derek Morgan charm." I winked then playfully shoved her back.

"I know. I've had withdraw symptoms. I just had to come back." She laughed as we got into my truck, her bubbly laugh making me realize how much I've really missed her. Her laughter was contagious and soon I was laughing right with her.

We only had a few hours until Pen's birthday dinner so I drove straight back to my house.

"I'm not letting you stay in a hotel." I tell Emily, noticing her quizzical look when we passed the hotel she had planned to stay at.

"I really don't have to bother you. I'll just stay at the hotel."

"Emily, stop it. We both have to go to Penelope's dinner anyway." I shook my head.

"Okay, time for my present, Baby Girl. Close your eyes." I tell Penelope, as she laughed and covered her eyes.

I texted Emily and soon I could hear the familiar click of her high-heeled boots. Smiles went through the room like wildfire, and we told Pen to open her eyes. She practically ran to meet Emily and soon Emily had been submerged in hugs. It was really good to have her back.
