Prologue
"Edward," I whispered as I felt his cool lips on my neck. His arms surrounded my waste and pulled me back into him, while my eyes fluttered closed. I revelled in his scent surrounding me, making me lose focus; but I had to finish, "...we can't-".
"Don't Bella," his voice husky as he interrupted me, his mouth continuing to trail up the column of my neck towards my ear. "Don't fight it anymore, we are meant to be together." His teeth grazed my earlobe as his breath against my skin sent shivers up my spine. My breath quickened.
"But-"
"No," he stated spinning me around to face him and cupping my chin in his hands, forcing me to look him in the eyes. The green orbs glittered in the moonlight spilling from the open bay windows that took up one side of my new room. His milky skin and beautiful features seemed to gain a whole new level of perfection in the silvery glow. His eyes pierced me, looking deep into mine, seeing the depths of my spirit. His voice was earnest yet quiet in the stillness of the night, "Do you love me?"
"You know I do," I breathed, trapped in his penetrating gaze. I reached out and touched his cheek, giving him the reassurance he was seeking. His hands slid down to my shoulders, pulling me tighter against him but keeping our eyes locked.
"Then nothing else matters. You have my heart, Bella, and I never want it back. I can't survive without you."
My own heart swelled at his words and agreed with them completely. I threw my arms around his neck and brought his mouth to meet mine, overcome by the love I saw in his eyes. The kiss started slow and sensual but as it progressed a wave of passion encompassed us, his tongue moved along my bottom lip asking for entrance which I immediately gave. His arms grasped me against his body, one twisted in my brown curls as the other secured my waste, while my own hands buried themselves in his bronze mane. As your tongues danced, a new tinge of want and desperation pervaded the kiss; I was desperate to feel him – all of him. My legs wrapped around his waist and he walked towards my bed.
He gently lowered us down onto the white sheets as my father and his mother lay sleeping, side by side, on the floor below.
