Chloe looked over at Lana as they went past each other in the Kent driveway. Chloe could tell that Lana was upset. Lana seemed oblivious that she was even driving past her.

Chloe reached the top of the stairs and saw Clark standing next to the open window seemingly watching Lana's SUV as it left. "Seems like my streak of great timing has continued. I was trying to get here before Lana did."

Chloe saw that Clark didn't move or even make any motion to let her know that he had heard what she said. "So, I'm guessing the talk didn't go so well?"

Clark finally turned around. "It went the way I thought it would." Clark sighed. "But, there was one thing a little different… Lana said you were helping me keep a secret. What happened to make her say that?"

"That's what I was coming over to tell you." Chloe sat down on the couch. "Yeah, it would have been quicker to have just called you on the phone, but the way the last few days have gone I knew a face to face conversation would be better."

Clark leaned up against the post ready to hear what happened.

"You remember me saying something to you about looking into Linda Lake's past to see if I could turn anything up?"

Clark nodded, "Yeah."

"Well, it turns out that she worked here in Smallville during the last meteor shower and her news van ended up in Crater Lake."

"Okay… so you think that gave her some kind of ability?" Clark asked.

"Yeah and I set up a sting with Lana to try and catch Linda Lake at her own game."

"I'm going to guess things didn't go as planned?"

"No, not exactly" Chloe said slowly. "What was supposed to happen was Lana was going to watch and listen to everything going on in Linda Lake's office through a webcam I had installed."

"What did happen?"

Clark crossed his arms across his chest. He could tell this story was about to go downhill.

"Well, I had just checked to make sure the microphone was working and that Lana could hear everything fine… when I pulled up a document on Linda's computer."

"What was that?"

"Okay, Clark I want you to not freak out when I say this okay?"

Clark didn't say anything but she could tell he was already getting tense.

"Linda didn't just overhear the conversation that Lana and I had, she also overheard the one that you and I had."

Clark face and eyes didn't move away from hers, seeming to bore into her as he asked. "Exactly which conversation, Chloe?"

"The I'd rather be called an intergalactic traveler conversation." She continued to spit out the details before he could say anything else. "She had an article on her computer and was going to publish it in tomorrow's paper. Lana overheard our conversation and heard Linda say that your farm boy friend is…. I took a hammer to the computer before Lana heard anymore."

Clark's whole body felt tense. Fear coursed through him. He couldn't believe that someone had overheard and had almost exposed him to the entire world. "Where is Linda Lake now?"

"She did a nose dive onto the front of Lana's SUV." Chloe answered. "I guess she's dead."

"That's not all," Chloe said. "Lana came to see me later and I had to play major defense for you. She had heard enough that the plausible deniability was gone. She knew I knew something and couldn't believe that I was acting like nothing was different."

"She wanted me to tell her again," Clark said. "It was like if you'll just tell me what it is then I won't go down the road I've started on."

"You didn't tell her, though did you?"

Clark didn't say anything just shook head.

Chloe stood up and walked over to Clark and put her arm around his big frame. "I know this doesn't make you feel any better, but maybe it is better this way."

Clark slowly nodded his head.

"I probably need to go. Lois was wanting me to stop by and see her."
