Rainbow Six: Darkest Hour
Chapter 1: New Beginnings
Location: Truth or Consequences, New Mexico
Time: April 7th, 2018 - 10:30 A.M
At the main headquarters outside the small town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Ash was sitting down at a table outside the command tent drinking some coffee. Dressed in her Sidewinder outfit, she would recognize herself as a high ranking official while working with others in the Chimera Virus Outbreak. On the frontlines for Team Rainbow, however, she was just another operator serving for the good purpose of the American citizens.
As she took another sip from her mug, which read Keep Calm and Breach 'N' Clear, Eliza Cohen wondered to herself how the people of the mysteriously named town would recover since the Outbreak was put to rest forever. Lost in thought, she never noticed that Kapkan, formerly Maxim Basuda, walking up behind her. She noticed him after he tapped on her shoulder to get the operative's attention.
"Hello there, Basuda.", she said, after looking behind her, "Need something?"
"Actually, I came to give you a status report on Project Copperhead.", replied the Russian, "In case you don't remember is the decontamination and reconstruction project for Truth or Consequences."
"Ah, that one. Well then, what is the status of it, speaking of which?"
"All is going well. We've cleared about fifty percent of the entire town of Chimera Virus activity and some rebuilding effort has begun."
"Excellent news, Kapkan. Let me know when there is more news about the project later today or tomorrow."
"Affirmative, comrade.", Kapkan said, before trekking off into one of the tents.
Ash then redirected her sights on the said town in the distance. She remembered when she stood at the railing one month ago, where she was on a call with Team Rainbow Director Six, telling her about the Chimera Virus situation. The memories of seeing the town up close in its previous state pained her, even though she tried to keep it from coming back in her mind after the disaster had ended.
A few minutes later, Ash was told by a National Guard soldier to report to the Command Tent for another briefing with some of the other operators. When she walked through entrance, she saw Tachanka, Lion, and Smoke surrounding a table with a map of Truth and Consequences bolted down. She walked up to the group, placing her hands on the table while Lion began the briefing.
"Bonne journée (good day), ladies and gentlemen.", the French CBRN operative began, "We are gathered here today to discuss the reconstruction effort in the town. Basuda may have already assembled some workers to start it up, but it's not being very productive, even with the Chimera Virus remnants being cleared out."
"So, what exactly are you planning here, Flament?", asked Blitz, who was sitting in a chair in the corner of the tent while he was fixing the flashbang attachment on his shield.
"I'm thinking that we should try and gather resources from Hereford Base, the SAS usually keep immense stockpiles of building materials in case the place gets destroyed."
"Ah, Schwachsinn!", Blitz swore in German as he accidentally set off a flashbang charge in his face, which made everyone laugh at him for his blunder.
"Looks like 'Flashy McFlasherson' has gotten himself again.", laughed Smoke.
"Shut up Porter, I'm not the only person that has had their own gadget turn on them many times!"
"I highly doubt your reasoning, Elias.", remarked Tachanka.
Blitz only grunted and stormed out of the Command Tent, which a few seconds later everyone could hear him outside making remarks and swearing in his homeland's language.
"Anyways, as I was saying.", resumed Lion, "We should gather resources from Hereford Base to help with the reconstruction effort."
"I agree.", said Smoke, "But I don't know how the other members of my unit will handle it, as the materials are of high quality and we members of the SAS are conservative of our sources when it comes to building our bases."
"How about you just use our resources and not worry about British ones.", offered Tachanka, "We Spetsnaz don't care about who use our stuff as long as they get our permission to do so."
The CBRN operative thought for a moment, deciding whether to use Hereford Base or the Spetsnaz materials for the reconstruction effort. He decided for the best to use the materials that Tachanka offered for them to use.
"Ok then, It's a deal.", concluded Lion, "We'll ask the director of the Spetsnaz for permission to use the materials and use it when it arrives if he accepts."
"Very well then.", replied the Russian operative.
April 10th, 2018
A few days later, shipments of supplies and materials from the Spetsnaz headquarters arrived to the base of operations in New Mexico. Glaz, formerly Timur Glazkov, and some Spetsnaz recruits arrived on the transport ship to help unload the materials and as well assist in the reconstruction effort.
While inspecting and checking off a container full of steel, Glaz received a notification on his phone telling him to report to the Medical Tent to speak with Doc. He handed the clipboard to one of the recruits and told him to take over for a bit.
A few moments later, the Russian stepped through the entrance of the Medical Tent, where he saw the GIGN operative checking out Jäger, who had severe burns on his right side, with his right hand absent to.
"What in Russia's name happened to you, comrade?", asked Glaz.
"Had a little 'accident' with an incendiary grenade.", the German responded, before he gritted his teeth in pain.
"Apparently he was experimenting with his ADS device.", said Doc, "He wanted to improve the reaction time of it, so he asked Echo and Twitch to help. After installing an experimental version, he tested it out on the grenade test field."
"Then what?", pondered Glaz.
"He then stood behind it and told a Recruit to throw a grenade at it.", continued Doc, "When it was thrown, he expected the ADS to catch the thing, but it malfunctioned and the grenade exploded in Jäger's face. Since it was an incendiary, it scorched him pretty good, also burning his right hand off in the process."
"I guess I could say I was lucky on that note.", Jäger said.
"Indeed."
"So, what are we going to do with his hand?", asked Glaz.
"That is why I asked for you, Timur.", the Frenchman responded.
Doc then walked to his desk and picked up a manila file packet. He handed it to the Russian, who hesitantly opened it and looked at the information inside of it.
Inside the folder, it had a few pictures. One of them was the image of a canister that contained what appeared to be a silver liquid with pieces of metal floating in it. Three of the others were pictures of the inside of a bunker, with one showing a laboratory filled with scientists and the strange canister of liquid sitting in the center of the room. The last one was the outside of the said bunker, which was a small base with guards posted around the perimeter.
Glaz looked up from the folder and raised an eyebrow at Doc, confused on why he had been given the folder.
"Doc, what is the meaning of these images?", he asked, "I don't understand the purpose of them."
"That Timur, is one of the weapons development bases for the White Mask terrorist organization.", said Doc, "The canister of liquid you see there is an experimental weapon for the soldiers called "Titanium Six". From what a former White Mask scientist that defected the organization told us, it's a technology that when injected into a host, it creates a titanium exoskeleton inside of the body."
"What else?", asked Jäger.
"In simple terms, it turns the entire regular human skeleton into pure metal titanium. If a person is missing an appendage, it forms a prosthetic that is made out of the material."
"So what you are saying is that if we steal this stuff, we can give it to Jäger here and make him some sort of super human?", questioned Glaz.
"Yes, that is correct.", replied the
GIGN operative.
"Hmm, impressive I must say. When should we go and infiltrate the place?"
"We're figuring that out right now, as I had asked Six about this operation."
"Alright, let me know when you get the day of the launch.", said Glaz, before he exited.
"No problem, mon ami.", said Doc.
Location: Unknown, Saudi Arabia
Time: April 14th, 2018 - 6:00 P.M
Night had fallen in the desert country of Saudi Arabia. It was mostly silent, other than the populated areas of the lands itself. In the moonlit skies above, the silhouette of a helicopter streaked through the air.
Inside of it, five operators from Team Rainbow sat in the holding area, waiting to arrive at their destination. The group consisted of the SAS, Spetsnaz, and GIGN units.
From the SAS were Sledge and Mute, Glaz and Finka from the Spetsnaz, and Montagne from the GIGN. They were chosen to carry out Operation Nightstalker, which was to retrieve the strange substance that Doc had shown Glaz a few days ago from the White Mask bunker compound.
"Hey Timur.", Montagne said, wanting to break the silence with a conversation, "What made you want to become a sniper in the first place, I've been wanting to ask."
"It's a long story, comrade.", Glaz replied, "But what I can tell you is that I was inspired to join the Russian armed forces after the Beslan School Siege had occurred back in September 1st-3rd , 2004. Very disturbing from what I heard."
"Yes, of course. Thank god that the special forces responded. If they hadn't shown up, things would be way different for the Russians."
"Hey, hate to break up the conversation you two.", said the pilot, "But we just arrived at the LZ."
A light in the holding area turned green from red, which signaled the operators to start rappelling down. They attached the ropes on their harnesses and dropped down from the craft. As soon as they planted their feet on the sandy terrain, the ropes came back up to the helicopter after they detached them, the craft leaving them afterward.
….Alright, the Titanium Six substance is down in the inside the underground laboratory according to the scientist. You are to slip inside without being spotted, extract it, then head back to the LZ. ,said Doc on their comm radios, If you are spotted by hostiles while extracting the object, take them out or hightail it back….
"Copy that.", the operators replied.
AN: And that concludes Chapter One of Rainbow Six: Darkest Hour, fellow readers.
I've always wanted to write a FanFiction on the topic of Rainbow Six Siege. And here I am writing one now since I found the community right here. I may have only read a couple short ones, but they were amazing in my perspective. I am also open to any suggestions for this story..
Thank you for reading Chapter One, and I will see you guys in the reviews.
