"Xion." His cold voice succeeded in reaching her, snapping her out of her trance. It was never meant to happen, she knew that, they both did. It was a mistake that could cost Sora's existence, but then why did it feel so right?
She didn't know if she were to prepare to die, or just stop existing. Was there a difference? Was it different if someone died? Maybe if you died, you wouldn't go to the realm of darkness, maybe you would just go to a better place. In both cases you would stop existing.
Xion decided to so, she would stop existing.
It was painful to know she wasn't meant to exist, but to know that someone wanted you with them made it harder to let go. She had Axel and Roxas, she had those goofy friends, who traveled everywhere, reached distant lands, just to make her stay.
And there was him, Sora's best friend. Even though he was the person who started all of this, even though he wanted nothing more tat to save his friend, there he was, in front of her, regretting his choice.
Xion looked at him and smiled weakly. "Don't forget me." And he promised to do so, even though they both knew he was lying, they decided to believe it. As her smile slowly faded away, Xion let go of Riku's hand and walked her last steps in her little, insignificant life, inside the mansion.
And while she closed the door behind her, Riku decided to ignore the painful feeling of his heart ripping in pieces. Because of his weakness, he decided that he would have to deal with the consequences. He was weak to choose only Sora, instead of looking for a way in which Xion could stay as well.
But that was impossible and because of that, he lost her.
