Midnight's Adventure
0700 Hours
The brothers are in Colorado, staying at a motel on the edge of a patch of woods. Midnight remembers the time, months ago, when his little sister ran off and fell into a grave, breaking her leg, but the woods entice him. So when Dean and Sam are busy unloading the Impala, Midnight sneaks away from the group to the woods.
The small, black cat padded through the forest, sniffing at leaves and trees. Leaves crackled beneath his paws. He tilted his head at the sounds of birds and rustling bushes. A rabbit crosses the path in front of him and he gives chase, black fur glinting in the sunlight.
Eventually, he left the rabbit in favor or studying a small river. Midnight's blue eyes watched the current curiously, spotting the fish hiding just below the surface. He tilted his head to the side and sits, just watching the river flow for a while.
Minutes passed, maybe hours, and finally Midnight decided he wants to go back to his owners. But therein lies the problem. He doesn't remember how to get back.
0915 Hours
Midnight walked through the woods, growing increasingly worried the more he walked. He couldn't remember which way he came in, and all the trees looked the same. Suddenly, every rustling bush spooked him and all the birds didn't sound nearly as happy or majestic.
Why did he have to run off? He was normally the smart one (not that his brother or sister were at all stupid). He was the practical one. He wasn't ever curious. Why didn't he learn from what happened to Piper? Adventures without his family just weren't a good idea.
Midnight stopped beneath a large oak tree and lay down, closing his eyes.

"Midnight! Midnight!" A deep, panicked voice called through the woods.
Midnight's ears pricked up and swiveled toward the source of the voice. "Father?"
"Midnight, where are you?" The voice grew closer as did the sound on leaves being smashed beneath combat boots.
Midnight stood and began walking toward the voice until finally he saw Dean and mewed loudly, running to him. "Daddy!"
Dean dropped to his knees and grabbed Midnight, pulling the cat close to his chest, "Fuck, don't do that Midnight." He said, holding the cat against him, his lips brushing over the cat's head.
Midnight mewed apologetically, nuzzling Dean's shoulder and neck, purring happily.
"You found him?" Castiel asked, coming up behind Dean, sounding relieved.
"Yeah, little idiot." Dean mumbled, passing Midnight to Castiel as he stood.
"Mommy." Midnight purred and butted his head against Castiel's chest.
Cas sighed happily, holding the cat close to him, "You cannot just run off like that Midnight." He said gently, rubbing the cat's head and scratching his ears.
Dean hugged Cas, pressing Midnight between the two of them, "Scared us, little one." He said.
Midnight placed little kitten licks between Castiel and Dean's faces. "I'm sorry."

Allie: Yes, Stormy will have an adventure too! But not tonight because I'm tired. Sorry it was short!
